Carlo Cranmer
Guitarist | Singer
Carlo Cranmer’s life has always been set to music. Born into a family where sound was as much a part of daily life as meals, Carlo’s childhood was filled with melodies from every corner of the musical spectrum. His parents and siblings each brought their own favorite genres into the mix, sparking his early fascination with music. Whether it was the hum of the radio on a Monday morning or the pulsing beats before a Saturday night out, music was a constant companion, and conversations about lyrics, themes, and the meaning behind songs were everyday occurrences.
Carlo’s path to becoming a musician wasn’t a straight line but more of a series of key moments that guided him towards his calling. The first happened when he was just nine years old, and his older brother introduced him to Bon Jovi’s "If I Was Your Mother". Tasked with understanding and explaining the song’s deeper meaning, Carlo was left in tears, overwhelmed by the emotional power of music and a newfound appreciation for his family. This moment revealed music’s ability to touch the soul and began his lifelong love for it.
The second defining experience came when Carlo's other brother brought him into the gritty, raw world of underground music. In the dim, dirty rehearsal spaces where punk, metal, and everything in between echoed off the walls, Carlo witnessed the unfiltered joy and camaraderie of band life. These early experiences gave him a deep appreciation for the underground music scene, which would become a huge influence on his career.
Self-taught and driven by passion, Carlo learned his craft by ear. His tools were simple: an old keyboard, a classical guitar, and whatever he could tap out in the classroom. These humble beginnings laid the groundwork for the intense, emotionally charged style of music he would come to love: metal, electronic, and any genre with raw power and emotion at its core.
Over the years, Carlo became a fixture in his local music scene, contributing to an array of bands and projects, from "Corrupted" to "Kyoto Jacket" and "Lenient Genies". He even co-wrote a song for an "X-Factor" artist, but his involvement wasn’t always on stage. Sometimes he directed music videos, acted in them, or helped with recording, all in the name of helping local talent thrive. His work with bands like "Decline the Fall", "Colourblind", and "Damaged & Co" highlighted his devotion to fostering creativity and supporting others in the scene.
Carlo’s music is a tool for self-expression and healing, both for him and for others. Drawing inspiration from artists like "Korn" and "Reuben", he sees music as a form of therapy- a way to channel aggression, release emotions, and ultimately, become a better person. His passion isn’t just for performing but for connecting with people on a deeper level, helping them tap into their own potential and cope with life’s challenges.
A memorable highlight of Carlo's career came when he overcame his stage fright during his first live performance with From Sheep to Wolves. Nervous and ready to back out, it was the encouragement of his friends and family that pushed him on stage. That performance became a turning point, showing him the power of community and the joy of live music.
Despite the challenges of breaking into the industry, particularly the lack of support for underground artists from corporate and government bodies. Carlo remains committed to his art. He’s proud of every milestone in his journey, good and bad, as it’s all part of what’s shaped him into the artist he is today. Looking ahead, he’s excited about the future, especially the release of From Sheep to Wolves debut album and the upcoming, even more intense second album.
At the heart of Carlo’s music lies a message of empowerment and introspection:
"You're not alone
Question everything
Take Control of your life
Be still, listen and live life not get crushed by it."
If Carlo could choose anyone to jam with, living or dead, it would be Steven Wilson from "Porcupine Tree". In an ideal world, they’d create a completely original track together, freely jamming and blending their unique styles. This dream collaboration would no doubt reflect Carlo’s love for powerful, emotional music that transcends boundaries.
In an unexpected twist, Carlo also has a side that few people know about: he’s a bit of a conspiracy theorist. But whether he’s diving deep into the mysteries of the world or creating intense, emotionally charged music, Carlo Cranmer is an artist with a passion for exploring life’s complexities, one powerful riff at a time.
