Robert Farrugia is an ambient musician and sound artist from Malta who has released music through labels such as Archives, Lontano / ROHS!, Polar Seas Recordings and others.
Robert is a classically trained pianist although his earlier work saw him produce experimental guitar-based music before returning to focus more on piano recordings. Robert is also the keyboardist for the atmospheric indie band 'Eyes to Argus'. Together with Kurt Buttigieg, Robert manages 'Complex Holiday', which is a small itinerant label established in 2020.
Ħanek is a new project by Kurt Buttigieg. The crackle of vinyl and everyday sounds become compositional devices. Improvised melodies and ephemeral rhythms come to the fore, anchored around the concepts of time, perception and memory.
Kurt has been involved in the long and short fringes of experimental music for years – gawking at it, making it, writing about it and organising gigs in Belgium and Malta. An occasional contributor to The Wire magazine, New Noise, and other platforms, he founded a label called Complex Holiday in 2020, which he co-runs with Robert Farrugia. He performed in many venues around Europe, sampling and surviving the cuisine of cash-strapped promoters. - Admission: €7
