About the event

This event forms part of the ticketing package for Ritmu Roots Festival at Argotti Gardens.

I Casentuli offer a diverse repertoire of traditional Sicilian music, encompassing songs and dances that reflect the rich history of this land. Sicily, being a historical crossroads of various peoples and cultures, serves as a unique synthesis of musical expressions that have intricately merged over time. The outcome is a remarkably varied musical tapestry, spanning from the ancient sounds of rural life to the more contemporary notes of urban environments.

This expansive musical universe features a broad spectrum of elements, including archaic tunes from the rural world, serenades, and work songs, as well as dances presented in agro-pastoral performances with instruments like cane flutes or bagpipes. Additionally, the repertoire includes music performed by village orchestras, where instruments like mandolin, violin, and guitar come together, forming an immense intangible heritage. Unfortunately, there is a risk that this invaluable cultural legacy may fade into obscurity if not actively preserved and celebrated.

Artists: I Casentuli : Giorgio Maltese (mandolin, marranzano, zampogna, organetto, tamburello, friscaletti, violin, castagnette siciliane, voice.), Simona Di Gregorio (voice, organetto, fisarmonica, chitarra, tamburello, castagnette, marranzano, danza), Pasqualino Cacciola (Guitar, mandola, mandolino, banjolino, tamburello, voice).

Accessibility: This venue is wheelchair accessible.
