Teatru Rjal Summer calendar, Rocking The Garage in Aid of Animal Sanctuaries & Nomad Son update!

Nomad Son Tease Long-Awaited Return with New Album in the Works

Doom metal band Nomad Son appear to be stirring once more, igniting speculation among fans about an impending return with a new studio album.

On April 6, 2023, keyboardist Julian Grech posted a photo of himself alongside his brother, guitarist Chris Grech, in a recording studio. The caption read: “Up to no good… Nomad Son’s 4th, in the making,” a statement that quickly caught the attention of long-time followers of the band. The image and words sparked renewed hope that the group was gearing up to release their much-anticipated fourth album.

Following that announcement, the band made a gradual return to the live music scene, performing at select shows over the past two years, further fuelling speculation of a full-scale comeback.

Now, exactly two years after the original post, Julian Grech once again turned to social media on April 6, 2025, to give fans an update. “Getting there… Slowly but surely… In our old fashioned Doomed way…” he wrote, hinting at steady progress on the new record and staying true to the band’s signature doom-laden ethos.

While no official release date has been announced, the band's activity suggests that Nomad Son’s fourth album is slowly materializing. Their last full-length, “The Darkening,” was released in 2013, leaving a significant gap that fans have long hoped would be bridged.

With cryptic updates and renewed live performances, the Maltese doom pioneers appear to be charting their return — on their own terms, and in their own time.

Nomad Son's lineup is made up of Julian Grech on keyboards, Chris Grech on guitar, Albert Bell on bass, Jordan Cutajar on vocals, and Chris Galea behind the drums.

‘Pawsome Sunday’ to Rock The Garage in Aid of Animal Sanctuaries

Animal lovers and rock enthusiasts are in for a treat as Ever Obscure and The Garage present the very first edition of Pawsome Sunday, a live rock concert in support of local animal sanctuaries.

The event will take place on the afternoon of Sunday, May 18 at The Garage in Żebbuġ.

Organisers have lined up three local bands for the occasion, promising an energetic and heartfelt afternoon of music — all for a good cause. The lineup includes Sad Pancake, Rankin, and Ever Obscure, who will be marking their debut performance with a full set of original songs.

“This is something really close to our hearts,” the organisers shared in a statement. “We REALLY want to help these amazing people out for all their pawsome work!” Proceeds from the event will go directly to AAA (Association for Abandoned Animals Malta) and CSAF (Carers for Stray and Abandoned Felines Malta).

Doors open after lunch, inviting attendees to “enjoy a drinky pou together” while taking in live performances and supporting a meaningful cause. Entrance is set at just €10, with every cent donated to the sanctuaries.

In addition to ticket proceeds, guests are also encouraged to bring along donations of dog and cat food, which will be collected into a hamper for the two organisations.

The organisers promise an afternoon that combines “great music, good vibes, and real support for those who care for our furry friends.”

More information is available on the official event page: Pawsome Sunday on Facebook.
