French Melodic Death Metal Titans DESTINITY Headline Malta on October 4th

On Friday, October 4th, Malta’s underground metal scene will ignite with Absentia Lucis, a blistering night of heavy music at The Garage, Ħaż-Żebbuġ, headlined by French Melodic Death Metal giants Destinity.

Formed in 1996 by founding members Mick Cesare (vocals), Stephan Barboni (guitars), and Florent Barboni (drums), Destinity have become a staple in the international extreme metal circuit. With performances at Hellfest, Summerbreeze, Stonehenge, and more, and a career spanning nearly three decades, the band boasts 10 studio albums, including their most recent release, Ascension (April 2025). Fans at Absentia Lucis can expect an intense set packed with heavy riffs and soaring melodic passages.

Supporting Destinity are two local forces of the Maltese metal scene: Animamortua and Impertex.

Progressive Thrash Metal act Animamortua, who first emerged in 2016, have already made their mark sharing stages with Blaze Bayley, Civil War, Orphaned Land, and Necronomicon. Their debut album Gods Among Us (2023, Underground Symphony Records) led to performances across Serbia, Romania, and Germany, including shows alongside Insulter and Sleazer. As the band prepares new material, frontman Juan Xerri shared: “Absentia Lucis will be our only local show for now, as we are focused on writing and recording our upcoming album.”

Newcomers Impertex round out the lineup, delivering a furious mix of thrash and heavy metal fused with blackened vocals. Since their live debut at The Living Thrash in December 2024, they have quickly earned a reputation as one of Malta’s most promising rising acts.
