Bahjat - Haya Ħdejja (Press Release)

“HAYA ĦDEJJA”
Malta-based A-POP artist Bahjat has officially released the music video for his latest single "Haya Ħdejja" featuring Neïf and co-produced by Howard Keith Debono. The project forms part of a forthcoming European television production set to air this fall and expected to reach an audience of almost 1 million viewers in Europe, where Bahjat and Neïf were tasked with creating an original Maltese hit. Neïf will remain anonymous until the series airs, adding further intrigue to the collaboration.
The release follows weeks of anticipation, media appearances, and growing buzz across the Maltese islands. Bahjat and Neïf have been featured across leading Maltese platforms including TVM's TVAM, TVM's Ilum ma' Steph, TVM Live, and TVM's Niskata, alongside heavy rotation on Magic Malta, Vibe FM, and Bay Radio, positioning "Haya Ħdejja" as one of the most talked-about local releases of the season.
Just hours after the song's release, "Haya Ħdejja" reached #1 on the iTunes chart in Malta, making an immediate local impact. Speculation around the collaboration then intensified after the pair were spotted together in Mdina and later arriving at radio studios, with clips and images quickly circulating online and fueling anticipation. The momentum continued as Bahjat and Neïf filmed the official music video across some of Malta's most iconic locations, drawing attention from both locals and tourists.
"Haya Ħdejja," which translates to "Come Here Beside Me," blends infectious Mediterranean energy with global pop production. Its use of Maltese, Arabic, and English marks a defining moment in Bahjat's evolving multilingual, cross-cultural expression that he calls A-POP. As a refugee artist, Bahjat has also expressed pride in carrying a song that blends Maltese with his home roots, saying it was always important for him to give back to Malta for giving him a second chance at life.
Visually, the music video captures themes of closeness and separation through cinematic scenes shot across Malta's stunning landscapes.
"Haya Ħdejja" stands as a continuation of Bahjat's journey as a global artist shaping contemporary cross-cultural pop through his evolving A-POP sound.
