Different Strings Release Fifth Studio Album The Great Divide
Different Strings have officially released their fifth studio album, The Great Divide, on March 9, 2026. The album is available in digital download and CD Digipak formats across all major digital platforms, excluding Spotify, as well as on the band’s Bandcamp page.

Pre-orders for the album opened on February 23 and received a positive response from fans. For a limited time, the album remains available for streaming on the same page, allowing listeners to experience it before purchasing. At present, there are no plans to release the album on vinyl unless significant demand arises.
With a runtime of over one hour, The Great Divide features six tracks, including two epic compositions lasting 18 and 22 minutes respectively. The album also includes four additional tracks, among them the previously released “Words Unspoken,” which has been remixed for improved sound quality and remastered to ensure overall album cohesion, and “Apathy Symphony,” which has also been remastered for consistency within the album.
On this release, Different Strings’ Chris Mallia collaborated with an international lineup of guest musicians. Keyboardist Derek Sherinian performs Hammond organ and all keyboard parts on “Words Unspoken.” The album also features contributions from four vocalists: Alex Granato (Naples, Italy) on “Apathy Symphony” and “Rhapsody in Grey Pt. 2 – Stranger in a Strange Land”; Chris Galen (USA) on “The Cuckoo’s Nest” and “Rhapsody in Grey Pt. 4 – Lost in the Maze”; Ilya Miroshnicenko (Belarus) on “The Jester’s Smile” and “Rhapsody in Grey Pt. 3 – Smoke and Mirrors”; and Berzan Onen, the new vocalist of Nevermore, on “In Darkness” and “Rhapsody in Grey Pt. 5 – Final Breathes.”
Additional guest contributions include Nigerian vocalist Olawepo Tayo, who recorded a gospel choir featured on “The Cuckoo’s Nest” and “Rhapsody in Grey Pt. 3 – Smoke and Mirrors,” and Latvian musician Artis Locmelis, who performs tenor saxophone solos on “Rhapsody in Grey Pt. 4 – Lost in the Maze.”
The Great Divide is a concept album exploring themes such as mental illness, anachronism, and social alienation. Musically, it is geared toward listeners who appreciate 1970s progressive rock and guitar- and keyboard-driven classic rock enriched with classical influences.

Fans wishing to support the band are encouraged to purchase the album directly from Different Strings. Direct purchases contribute to the band’s ability to produce future releases. For further details and discounted pricing options, contact differentstrings@hotmail.com
