‘OTHERSIDE’

Motherknives release their new track ‘Otherside’ as part of their ongoing collaboration with Kewn Records introducing Motherknives as a new, distinctive voice blending goth, heavy rock, trip-hop, and underground alternative influences.

“Otherside” is an ode to the presence of the afterlife within our waking lives; the sense that we coexist across different planes with the spirits of mothers, fathers, relatives, friends, and other cherished souls who have passed on. The song was written for the infinite spirit of Francesca’s grandmother, Nazzarena, as a thank you for her nurturing love.

It captures an out-of-body experience, where the spirit leaves the body to briefly meet a loved one beyond and return. A ghostly encounter, a grieving fantasy.

Emerging from the basement garage, Motherknives are shaped by 90s underground influences while blending elements of 80s goth, heavy rock riffs, pop-like melodies, and trip-hop atmospheres. Their sound is both raw and cinematic, being grounded in alternative grit yet driven by melody.

The track was recorded, produced, mixed and mastered by Capitol K.

Motherknives will be returning to Rock The South as part of the festival’s 13th edition this coming May!
