‘ZERO’

Motherknives release their new track ‘Zero’ as part of their ongoing collaboration with Kewn Records.

Inspired by the concept behind Hotel California and the enigmatic tales of the Mystic in Malta, alongside with stories of parties marked by hedonism and artists, the song unfolds like a classic rock journey that turns into a maze. It begins with a figure knocking on a door out of simple curiosity, and descends into a darker path where the protagonist becomes trapped, unable to turn back. Set in a chilling, gothic atmosphere “below zero,” the narrative fades into an ambiguous ending, leaving the listener suspended in a gothic blur.

Emerging from the basement garage, Motherknives are shaped by 90s underground influences while blending elements of 80s goth, heavy rock riffs, pop-like melodies, and trip-hop atmospheres. Their sound is both raw and cinematic, being grounded in alternative grit yet driven by melody.

The track was recorded, produced, mixed and mastered by Capitol K.

Motherknives will be returning to Rock The South as part of the festival’s 13th edition this coming May!
