Wacken Metal Battle – Malta 2026 — The Road to the World Stage

The Wacken Metal Battle – Malta 2026 marks the return of Malta’s official national selection for the globally renowned Wacken Open Air—the world’s largest and most prestigious metal festival. Following Malta’s successful debut in 2025, where MORSROT became the first Maltese band to perform at Wacken Open Air, the 2026 edition raises the stakes even higher. This year’s competition will feature top Maltese metal acts performing live before an elite panel of international industry professionals, including representatives from major festivals, record labels, booking agencies, and global media. The winning band will earn the distinguished opportunity to represent Malta on the international stage at Wacken Open Air 2026.

Distinguished Jury Panel Includes:

Leading figures from across the international metal industry, including representatives from Knock Out Productions, Mystic Festival, Metal Hammer, Time To Kill Records, Scarlet Records, Testimony Records, and the official Wacken Metal Battle organization.

Official Observers:

Malta will be the first country to have two players of the Maltese Metal scene as observers during the whole Wacken Metal Battle Malta. Their job is to secure transparency throughout the whole event. They are Annemarie Spiteri and Emanual Portelli.
