The Maltese music scene continues to make its presence felt both locally and internationally, with the seventh edition of Mużika Mużika now entering its next stage while Maltese singer-songwriter Lyndsay Pace has added another international accolade to her growing list of achievements.
Applications for the seventh edition of Mużika Mużika, organised by Festivals Malta, officially closed on Saturday, 26 September. The festival, which has established itself as one of Malta’s leading platforms for Maltese music, will return from 11 to 13 March 2027.
Once again, Festivals Malta received a substantial number of applications from singers, authors and composers, with the submitted songs representing a variety of musical genres. The continued interest in the festival reflects its position as an important showcase for Maltese songwriting and performance, attracting both established and emerging artists.
The next stage of the process will see the Festivals Malta team, together with the Mużika Mużika Board, working alongside an expert jury to evaluate all the submitted material. From these applications, 30 songs will be selected to proceed to the next phase.
The selected entries will then be performed live during a further audition session, accompanied by a backing track. A different jury, separate from the one involved in the initial selection, will evaluate these performances before choosing the 16 songs that will become the finalists of Mużika Mużika 2027.
The finalists are expected to be announced following the live auditions taking place in October, with Festivals Malta confirming that the names will be revealed through a separate announcement.
The organisers have thanked all the singers, composers and authors who submitted their work and wished them success in the competition.

While preparations for next year’s Mużika Mużika continue, Maltese music is also receiving recognition beyond the island, with Lyndsay Pace recently achieving another international success.

Pace was awarded Best Original Song at the Sofia Grand Prix Festival, held in Sofia, Bulgaria, where she represented Malta with her song “Fireproof.”
The singer-songwriter took to the stage with the song, delivering a performance that showcased her talent and dedication to her music. “Fireproof” will already be familiar to Maltese audiences, having been Pace’s entry in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest in 2024.
The latest award adds another international achievement to what has been an eventful year for Pace, further extending her musical activities beyond Malta. Representing Malta at an international festival in Bulgaria also provided an opportunity for her music to reach an audience outside the local scene.
“Fireproof” centres on themes of strength, resilience and the courage to continue believing in oneself, a message that Pace carried with her onto the Sofia stage.
For Pace, the recognition represents another chapter in her artistic journey as she continues to work on new projects while taking her music to international audiences.
