No Humano Wins Battle of the Bands / Strummin’ Supports Foodbank / Farsons Beer Fest & Rock In The Forest!

Strummin’ Foundation presents concert proceeds to Foodbank Lifeline Foundation

In an event held at the Malta Council for the Voluntary Sector in Valletta, Strummin’ Foundation presented the proceeds from last year’s annual charity concert, Turn Back Time, to Foodbank Lifeline Foundation.

Strummin’ founder Gwyneth Zammit presented a cheque of €4000 to Lisa Villette from Foodbank on behalf of the foundation, the cast and the committee. Ms Villette expressed her gratitude, urging people to recognise the importance of initiatives like the Strummin’ concert that help in more ways than one.

Ms Zammit then went on to announce the beneficiary for the 20th edition of the concert, Dr Klown. Eric Muscat, President of Dr Klown, gave an introduction to the valuable work carried out by clown doctors at Mater Dei Hospital, and how he hopes the monies collected from this year’s concert will contribute to a new preparation room for the clown doctors at the hospital.

To wrap up the evening, Mr Jean Claude Vancell presented the theme artwork and brand for the ‘Years of Gold’ concert — explaining how the valuable work and time of over 2,100 participants in the last 19 editions inspired the string graphic that will guide the audience through over 2 hours of music this November.

No Humano Triumphs at Inaugural Crowned Battle Of the Bands

In an electrifying display of musical talent, No Humano, a dynamic band composed of musicians from Colombia, Malta, and Chile, emerged victorious at the first edition of the Crowned Battle Of the Bands. The event took place on Friday, July 5th, and Saturday, July 6th, at The Garage, captivating audiences with an impressive array of performances.

The competition kicked off on Friday evening with six bands each delivering a fifteen-minute set, vying for a spot in the finals. The evening's performances were judged based on both the judges’ scores and attendees’ votes. By the end of the night, three bands advanced to Saturday’s showdown: No Humano, From Sheep To Wolves, and Captain Romance And The Danger Dogs.

Each band brought their A-game to Friday's stage, showcasing their unique styles and engaging the audience with impeccable performances. The anticipation for Saturday’s final was palpable, as the three finalists prepared to deliver even more stunning sets.

Saturday night did not disappoint. The finalists gave it their all, each band shining brightly in their respective performances. The competition was fierce, but in the end, No Humano edged out the others by just a few points, securing their well-deserved victory.

In a heartfelt post on their Facebook page, No Humano expressed their gratitude and excitement: "Thanks to everyone that believed in us! And all the bands that participated. This was an amazing experience! Now that we won we can proudly say we got ourselves a distribution deal with Kewn Records, recording sessions at Spinesplitter Studio with the great David Depasquale behind the desk and we will see you again at Farsons Beer Festival!"

The victory represents a pivotal achievement for No Humano, paving the way for them with a new distribution deal and future recording sessions. Their success at the Crowned Battle Of the Bands highlights not only their exceptional talent and hard work but also the cohesion of their diverse lineup.

Anticipation is high for No Humano's upcoming performance at the Farsons Beer Festival, where they are expected to enchant audiences once again with their distinctive sound and energetic stage presence.
