Malta's very own singer-songwriter, Chellcy Reitsma, has been officially nominated for The World Entertainment Awards in Hollywood for her song titled 'Dark Times' in the Best Alternative Song category.

The event is known for its glamorous star-studded Hollywood red carpet arrivals, and spectacular live performances.
About Chellcy's nominated song - ‘Dark Times’ the first song on her album, 'Momento Mori' released 1st Nov 2024. Dark Times - Written by the Chellcy Reitsma Band as a full band collaboration during Covid after their first UK tour was cancelled twice in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic. They originally wrote it to form the opening act of a mini musical they performed for a local festival in Malta. Each band member contributed their parts. The lyrics are written by Chellcy Reitsma with compositions by Alan Degabriele on bass, Simon Cutajar and Edward Mifsud on guitars, Adam Cutajar on drums, and backing vocals by Julie Pomorski and Kristijan Volchev all from Malta. This song and project really helped them to stay focused and hopeful about their music during such a dark time. The production is by The Animal Farm Music of London with the vocals recorded by the late Kristijan Volchev of Sw4er Lab of Macedonia and Malta, and mastering by Hafod of Wales.

Best friends, Chellcy Reitsma and Lyndsay Pace, of Malta have both been nominated for this prestigious award in different categories and will be traveling together in January 2026 to Hollywood, California to attend the awards ceremony where the winners will be announced for the World Entertainment Awards. They will also be attending the Grammy Awards the following night in Los Angeles because Chellcy was appointed to the Grammy voting board earlier this year and her music was also accepted officially for consideration in the Grammy Awards in 6 categories as well.
