The Maltese alternative music scene is gearing up for one of its most anticipated annual highlights as Rock The South Malta 13th Edition returns this spring with a bold, expanded program. Set against the vibrant seaside backdrop of Zion Bar & Restaurant, this three-day celebration of live music and underground culture will take place from May 1st to 3rd, 2026—promising its biggest edition yet.

Organised by Rock The South Malta, the festival has steadily built a reputation as a cornerstone of Malta’s independent music calendar. This year’s edition raises the bar, featuring two main stages, an eclectic lineup of local and international acts, and an after-hours silent disco powered by White Noise Malta—ensuring the energy continues long after the main sets wrap up.
A Weekend of Diverse Sounds
The festival kicks off on Friday, May 1st, with performances starting at 4:30 PM. The opening night showcases a mix of emerging and established local talent, including Brodu, Danjeli, and Dwejn (featuring members of Djun), alongside David Schembri, Aidan Somers, Bee, Sad Pancake, and JOB (DJ). The night transitions into an electronic clash with Lithium going head-to-head with DJ Bob at the silent disco.
Saturday’s lineup intensifies the experience, beginning at 5 PM. Headliners include crowd favorites BRIKKUNI and Michael Azzopardi u l-Klieb tal-Wulf, joined by acts such as Beesqueeze, Skimmed, Areola Treat, and Italy’s Bedroom Horse. The night continues with high-energy performances from Motherknives, Mauve, and Views, followed by a late-night set from I.YOU.
Sunday offers a full-day finale starting at 1 PM, diving into heavier and punkier sounds. The lineup features veteran doom metal band Forsaken alongside BNI, Dripht, Knockturn Alley, and BILA. International flavor comes from Germany’s Fotokiller, while a diverse roster including Haine, Five Years From Now, Kodin Hill N' The Pressed Pills, Double Standard, NoHumano, Grotium, Viper Soup Complex, Bruda, and Myles rounds off the weekend.

More Than Just Music
Beyond the performances, Rock The South Malta continues to cultivate a full cultural experience. The festival’s signature atmosphere—blending music, art, and community—is enhanced with visuals by artist Samwel Mallia, adding a distinctive aesthetic layer to the event.
With weekend and single-day tickets already available, early birds are encouraged to act quickly, as discounted passes are limited. The combination of seaside vibes, genre-spanning performances, and a loyal following ensures that this year’s edition will once again draw a diverse and passionate crowd.
As anticipation builds, one thing is clear: Rock The South Malta’s 13th edition isn’t just a festival—it’s a defining moment for Malta’s alternative music culture in 2026.
