Since the release of their self-titled debut album in 2021, Scarlet Pimpernel has established a distinctive identity rooted in the dark, vintage and hard rock of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Drawing on the spirit of classic blues rock and hard rock, the Maltese duo combines atmospheric songwriting with timeless vocal melodies to create music that explores a broad spectrum of emotions and stories. Now, Jessica Grech and Chris Grech return with the first single ‘Living Off the Grid’ from their forthcoming second album, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter on the 10th September 2026.

‘Living off the grid’ is a powerful tribute to generations whose lives are shaped by the land and the relentless rhythm of the seasons. Through heavy, groove-driven riffs and evocative storytelling, the song captures the daily struggle of those who labour from dawn to dusk, enduring scorching sun and relentless rain, knowing that their survival depends on a successful harvest. In one of its most poignant moments, the music gives way to a sparse, almost gospel-like passage, where a solitary heartbeat-like kick drum and Jessica Grech's haunting chant become a heartfelt prayer for rain, a reminder that for those who live off the land, hope and resilience are often all that stands between hardship and survival.
