Sound of Freedom Release, Halcyon and Luciferi Regnum Lineup Changes, New Studio in Santa Venera, and Trakafest 2024 Announced

Devil's Breath Releases New Track "Sound of Freedom"

The dark ambient music scene welcomes a new addition as Devil's Breath drops their latest track, "Sound of Freedom," on August 19th. The track, available on Bandcamp, is part of a massive 44-track compilation that showcases a diverse range of atmospheric soundscapes.

"Sound of Freedom" stands out as a Dark Drone Tribal Ambient piece, infused with noise influences. The track is described as both dark and atmospheric, yet surprisingly uplifting, offering listeners a haunting but hopeful sonic experience. Positioned as the 20th track in the compilation, it continues Devil's Breath's tradition of creating immersive auditory journeys.

The compilation, from which this track emerges, draws inspiration from the world of cinema. Each track title in the collection is influenced by a film or movie, with Devil's Breath's contribution inspired by the 2023 film Sound of Freedom—a movie that explores the dark realities of child trafficking. This thematic connection adds a layer of depth to the track, which mirrors the tension and release found in the film's narrative.

Listeners can explore "Sound of Freedom" and the entire compilation on Santa Sangre Magazine's Bandcamp page, where the compilation offers a rich tapestry of sounds for fans of dark ambient and experimental music. For those interested in the film that inspired the track, more information can be found on its IMDb page.

With this release, Devil's Breath continues to solidify their presence in the dark ambient music scene, delivering a track that is as evocative as it is haunting.

Halcyon Announces Departure of Founding Member Alexander; Luciferi Regnum Drummer Also Exits Band

This past weekend, Halcyon, announced the departure of a key member. The band shared on their Facebook page that Alexander, a founding member and integral part of their journey, has stepped down. In their heartfelt message, Halcyon expressed deep gratitude for Alexander's contributions, which were instrumental in shaping the band's sound and even suggesting their name, Halcyon. Despite his departure, the band confirmed they would still be performing at the upcoming Malta Deathfest.

In a personal post on August 26th, Alexander offered further insight into his decision to leave the band. He reflected on the emotional and creative journey that led to the formation of Halcyon, describing the band’s name as symbolising a peaceful and happy time in his life. Although he expressed his love for performing and his fellow band-mates, Alexander revealed that his growing unhappiness and anxiety over recent months had made it difficult for him to continue. He emphasised that his decision was not influenced by the recent addition of Miguel to the band, and he remains supportive of Halcyon as they move forward.

Alexander’s departure marks the end of an era for Halcyon, but the band will continue to honour their commitments, including their performance at Malta Deathfest.

In related news, melodic black metal band Luciferi Regnum, also announced a lineup change. On August 27th, the band revealed that their drummer, Gwen Zammit, has decided to leave the group. The band expressed their appreciation for Gwen's dedicated contributions for the past two years and wished her well in her future endeavours.

Luciferi Regnum assured fans that despite this change, their upcoming performance at the Halloween Massacre at The Garage will proceed as planned.

Both departures signal significant changes for these bands, but Halcyon and Luciferi Regnum remain committed to their musical paths, with upcoming performances set to demonstrate their resilience and dedication to their art.
