Tryst Arcane facebook.com < Back Tryst Arcane is a duo from Malta, formed by Alexia (vocals – Memento Nostri) and Julian (keys -Nomad Son). Taking Alexia’s ethereal vocals and layering them over haunting cinematic soundscapes, organ sounds or brooding piano riffs, the duo strikes a deviant balance between traditional song standards and music that you’d find accompanying a dramatic moment on screen. ‘Minimal Dark’ is a term that the duo coined for this genre of music that is particularly pronounced in their debut album, AUTUMN. Being it shorn of percussive instruments but rather composed of only two elements, that of keys and vox, this album is imbued with a solemn dreaminess and serenity. The Tryst Arcane project was reimagined with the introduction of the 3rd element which will be featuring in their upcoming album, Sun of Other Days. Their return sees an alliance with Emanuel Portelli ( Victims of Creation, Hemplifier) and his Mediterranean-inspired guitar tunes which led to conceptualise their compositions as an extended version of their minimalistic approach. While Julian’s synths hover over prog/post and space rock territories, the lyrics and chants transpire from a deep nostalgic place within a mystical atmosphere and metaphorical parallelism with science fiction’s time and space travel. Krejon < Back The founders of the band are brothers and guitarists, Mario and Manuel. Heavily influenced by instrumental guitar music, they started experimenting by writing instrumental pieces and songs together. Once they had composed several songs, Christopher joined the band, initially as a percussionist and then as a drummer. Later, Alan joined the band on bass. The band as a 4 piece was formed mid-2021. Their first gig took place in December 2021. After a few gigs later, the band discussed the idea of adding different instruments to the band. Keyboardist Steve joined Krejon a few months later. Their first EP, consisting of 6 tracks, was released inMay 2023. The band are also currently working on new songs for future albums. < Back Ezra Grech Drummer Since a tender age Ezra always showed interest in music, after tying serval different instruments he was mesmerized by drums, eventually his parents notice how dedicated he was and this would help Ezra concentrate more, focus on studies and contributed to succor his ADHD. From 2018 he has been under the guidance of a teacher who helped him refine his technique, and practice as much as he can. His love for music gives him energy and he says that it definitely challenges him in ways to learn more and to create something new. Ezra performed with the school of music talent shows, these gave him confidence to perform in front of an audience although the feeling was nerve-wracking but exhilarating. His band means everything to him, since they have been together the amazing work collaboratively on original music and to bring ideas to life. Being around other musicians pushes him to grow as a drummer. His style of music varies since he’s into everything, but his favorite genres are sludge, groove and 90s nu-metal but his of drumming is different since he’s in a speed/thrash metal band (Impertex) Ezra is keen to improve his skills, ultimately touring with a band professionally playing gigs all over would be a dream come true. < Back Brian Schembri Conductor, Pianist George Scintilla One of the most brilliant musicians to emerge from Malta, Brian Schembri started his music studies under the guidance of his father Carmelo Schembri, very early establishing a reputation as a highly talented concert pianist, frequently performing on TV, radio and at public concert halls. After he became the youngest ever to obtain the Licentiate of the Royal Schools of Music (London) he continued his studies at the Kiev and Moscow “Tchaikowsky” State Conservatories. There he actively participated in the student concert life, both as pianist and conductor, winning first prize in the "Beethoven Concerto Competition". He obtained an M.A.(music) and did post-graduate course in piano with Alexander Snegiriov and Serguei Dorensky as well as conducting with Roman Kofman and Gennady Rozhdestvensky. In 1989, he was appointed assistant conductor with Michel Plasson at the Orchestre du Capitole and the Theatre du Capitole de Toulouse, also collaborating with prestigious conductors James Judd, Edoardo Muller, Serge Baudo, Yuri Temirkanov, Garcia Navarro, Armin Jordan and Emmanuel Krivine. < Back Michael Vassallo Bassist Michael Vassallo started off playing the bass at 12 years old, always dreaming of joining a band, he started off listening to metal at the age of 8 or 9 when his dad used to play Iron Maiden and Metallica in the car. After a few years he took more interest in the genre and decided to rediscover metal music. Over the past year or 2 he has been listening to heavier genres mainly thrash and death metal. He joined impertex at the age of 13. The band needed a bassist, and a guitarist (Marta) which Michael knew from before had asked if he wanted to join, he quickly jumped at the opportunity. From then on, he started taking the bass seriously and focusing a lot of his time on the instrument. Impertex started off at as a rock band but eventually the whole band agreed on playing thrash metal, after around a year of playing the vocalist left and Kieron (guitarist/vocals) started sing, and all agreed to have Kieron as the new singer. < Back Kelly Busuttil Vocals Kelly Busuttil is a mezzo soprano- singer / songwriter (Genres: Rock, Metal, Progressive, Alternative, Rock and Roll, Soul) Maltese, born in Belgium, Kelly immediately fell in love with music while following the band of the family’s next door neighbour. She started formal vocal lessons in Malta at age five. This early love for music has led her to perform in Malta, Italy and USA. Her past experiences include performing at the ‘Beland Music Festival’, ‘Farsons Beer Festival’, ‘Malta Marathon’, ‘Strummin’, ‘Mumenti’ and as backing vocalist for the maltese band ‘The Crowns’ at the Valletta New Years Eve Celebrations. She has been nominated for the Upcoming Artist award in Malta in 2013 and in 2017. Kelly carried on with her vocal studies in Rome, taking on Trinity College examinations in Rock and Pop Vocals, while studying guitar, and performing for the school in various events. She was trained by a professional IVA vocal teacher who has helped her improve her skills in improvisation, breath control, belting and using her middle voice. While in Rome, she collaborated in the creation of a song anthem for Montesacro Roma Basketball Club. Amongst other music gigs, she also had the opportunity to sing at Piper Club in Rome, which was once Italy’s most famous music venue , hosting Nirvana, Genesis, Pink Floyd, David Bowie and many more. After her experience in Rome, Kelly went back to performing at various events in Malta and also got involved in some studio work for other artists. In the meantime she started giving singing lessons and music exploration lessons to children. In 2021 Kelly moved to Milan, Italy and started performing in pubs and weddings (Genres: pop, italian, rock n roll, soul, jazz). In 2022 she joined the band Monkey Riot in Milan, Italy and started writing lyrics and recording the Rock Metal album THE CIRCLE. Here she started exploring her rock screaming voice more than ever before and completely fell in love with the genre. She is just back from the USA, which has been a unique adventure to promote the album with guitarist Fabio Carraffa. Kelly currently travels between Malta and Milan frequently for the band, and is aiming to travel wherever the music takes her. Bila facebook.com/bilamalta < Back Noise Punk band BILA started out towards the end of 2014 and later on released debut EP 'Liba' on cassette with Youth of Today, a small label from Venice (now re-released digitally with Malta-based KEWN records). This led to tours both in Malta and Italy, namely Venice in 2015. BILA has played multiple venues across Malta and at festivals such as Rock the South and Sickfest among others. BILA were also invited to perform in the annual 'Malta Takes London' event both in 2016 and 2017, at Proud Camden and Blundell Studios respectively. BILA had their first 7'' release 'Do What I Want' on Canadian Imprint Kingfisher Bluez and KEWN records in June 2018 to great success. In late 2018, BILA released their EP Bestjarju on KEWN records and after which played multiple shows and a mini tour in the UK in February 2019. In late 2019 BILA had the opportunity to tour alongside Illinois-based post-metal band Staghorn across the American Midwest to promote the release of their EP Deheb, Incens u BILA.
