< Back Emanuel Portelli Guitar Emanuel Portelli, born in 1989, started studying guitar at the Euro Institute of Music in Malta at 17 years of age, where he studied under Marc Galea and earned RGT guitar practice certifications. Later, he continued studying music theory under the supervision of Jonathan Ellul and earned the LCM certification. Currently, Emanuel has five active bands, is a session guitarist, and teaches guitar on a part-time basis. Emanuel with his band Hemplifier started organizing an underground Stoner Festival in 2021 called Reeferfest. < Back Glen Montanaro Guitars Guitarist and composer, actively working at finding new sounds in collaboration. He has since worked in a variety of projects and had his own including - Xhud - a project combining emotional and rhythmical music with live visuals as well as - The Ebbin’ & Flow - a collaboration with Jess Rymer exploring Maltese and Yorkshire folklore and narratives through two distinct musical approaches. The previous went on to participate and get second place in JazzDanmark's 2020 JazzKonkurrencen where it got second place. The group recorded an album and continued to explore the combination of mediums. In 2017, he was chosen for an intercultural residency in France led by Fabrizio Cassol where his interest in Middle-Eastern and Mediterranean music developed. In 2018, a collaboration with British composer Jess Rymer saw him diving into experimental and electronic music. This was followed by his participation in the New York Jazz Masters, of which experience brought him even closer to the jazz tradition. Whilst practicing his musical craft, both locally and overseas, he was called once again for another residency with Fabrizio Cassol, which accounted to further skill development and discovery of new musical approaches within the art. In 2020 he launched a new project collaborating with musicians from Aalborg. He is currently furthering his studies at the Royal College of Music in Aalborg, Denmark. Reload MT < Back Formed in November 2024, RELOAD MT is a dynamic three-piece blues and rock band based in Malta. The group consists of Isaac Azzopardi (lead guitarist and main vocalist), Jake Azzopardi (bassist, backing vocalist, and keyboardist), and Aiden Bondin (drummer). Despite their recent formation, the band has already performed three times at Muddy Waters, twice at Wild Honey Valletta, and once at 97 noted steadily building a strong reputation in the local music scene. The three musicians first crossed paths in 2023 when they started playing together in their former school band, Electric Echoes, which went on to perform on the prestigious Sanremo stage. However, after a few months, the group disbanded, with Isaac, Jake, and Aiden continuing to perform together at notable events such as X Factor Malta 2024 and Earth Garden Festival 2024. Prior to becoming RELOAD MT, the trio performed under the name SUP3RSONIC, a four-piece band with an additional rhythm guitarist and lead vocalist. However, just a week before their first gig at Muddy Waters in November 2024, their fourth member departed, leaving Isaac, Jake, and Aiden to carry on as a trio. Rising to the challenge, they rebranded as RELOAD MT and successfully debuted at Muddy Waters. Since then, the band has been securing multiple performance opportunities and expanding their reach. Currently, RELOAD MT is preparing for their new upcoming performances which include Lemon & Lime Pub, Earth Garden Festival 2025 and many others With an increasing number of performance opportunities and a growing fan base, RELOAD MT is trying to start a steady rise in Malta’s music scene. As they gear up for even more new gigs, the band remains focused on refining their craft, expanding their original repertoire, and striving for even greater success. < Back Gabriele Tortora Drums Gabriele has played drums ever since he was born. His father was a drummer so it was quite natural to follow his steps. He started formal drum lessons at age 7. Gabriele’s favourite music genres have always been rock and metal, however his first experiences as a musician have lead him to playing jazz and pop. He has studied at the “Federico Paulovich” academy, where he was able to sharpen his technic and became more versatile. Gabriele is now working on various projects and plays drums for an Italian band called Livore. He has recently began teaching drums to children and adults. Gabriele Tortora has recently joined Rock Band Monkey Riot and he’s loving the instant positive connection created in meeting Fabio and Kelly. < Back Fake Ophelia Solo Artist Martha Tea Fake Ophelia is the alias of Berlin-based Maltese artist Luke Cheree (Luke Scerri). Relatively eclectic and coming from various different influences, Fake Ophelia's music sways somewhere between Art Pop and Soundtrack music, with a penchant for lushful sounds and atmospheres. Based in Berlin, he is currently also collaborating with Berlin-based band Ara Lil Yoon and occasionaly with Das Birthday Girl. < Back Nick Morales Guitars, Vocals Nick Morales came kicking and screaming into this world on the 24th July 1981, andafter a while he realised that he had a nasty passion for music. Since he first picked upan instrument, he has played in numerous local outfits including Thera, Yellow Poppers, Try See Kill, Oblong, Lynch, Noetic, No Bling Show, Carrie Haber, Mikaela, MsLeads, Sempliciment Tat-Triq and Dripht amongst many others. Aside from organising Rock the South Malta festival, Nick Morales also recently became an official partner of the beloved and large scale Malta festival Earth Garden. Nick's international exposure includes touring with local band Dripht in London in July 2006 and managing tours for Maltese bands in Copenhagen, Denmark, alongside Jesper Ejrup, a key contact from Denmark. His management efforts have facilitated tours for nosnow/noalps, Cable35, Carrie Haber, Twenty Six Other Worlds, Bletchley Park, Red Electrick, and For Strings Inn in various countries including Denmark, Scotland, Austria, Paris, London, Milan, and Italy. Some notable achievements include: Recording with Carrie Haber in London at Air Studios with Grammy Award-winning producer Steve Orchard in May 2010. A European acoustic tour with nosnow/noalps in September 2011, funded by The Malta Arts Fund, covering Denmark, Paris, London, and Milan. Supporting major bands like The Hives in Malta in September 2017 and Kaiser Chiefs in August 2018. Initiating the Rock the City Malta festival in 2018 and Malta Takes London, a platform for Maltese artists to perform in London. Nick also ventured into record production with the establishment of Kewn Records in early 2018, releasing Bila's single "Do What I Want" in collaboration with Canadian label Kingfisher Bluez. In addition to his musical pursuits, Nick has directed, produced, filmed, and edited over 30 music videos under nosweat Productions. He remains actively involved in promoting concerts, traveling, and cooking, continuing to enrich the musical landscape in Malta and abroad. < Back Valerie Cassar Vocals Mandy Calleja Valerie started out singing when she was 6 years old and participated in festivals until the age of ten. Her love for singing rekindled at 24 years of age when she met colleagues at work who asked her to join a band. She started out as a backing singer, later taking the role of a singer with Dislost, a rock ballad band. During this time she put into practice her natural gift of song writing and writing lyrics also in other projects with various musicians. In the meantime, she was asked to be a backing vocalist for Oblique visions which she happily accepted. After some time with the band, Valerie became one of the leading vocalist singing clean vocals together with a male growler singer. She participated with Oblique Visions at the Extreme Metal Festival in 2013 which was her last show with the band in Buskett. She made her way back into the metal scene in 2018 in an Iron maiden tribute band and again in 2024 where she performed several songs at The Garage and Beerfest. In the meantime she started in a new project called Rogue, a 70s and 80s cover band with some of Malta's old time musicians, who went live the first time in June and aiming to go live again soon. She loves to sing heavy metal and rock, especially from the 80s era but also any type of genre. Her passion for music, singing and performing grow stronger, and she believes that the vibe music creates is magical, especially when a project is being put together and when performing live.
