< Back Albert Bell Vocals, Bass, Guitars Born on 6th November, 1967, Albert “Dr.Doom” Bell has been championing heavy metal ever since his entry into the Maltese metal since the 1980s. Handling bass duties, he formed his first band Exorcist (later renamed Kremation) in 1984, which was one of the Island’s incipient speed/thrash metal bands. Kremation hit the local stages regularly and passionately in their hey-day and released a full-length album on cassette titled “Guardian of the Realm” in 1987, which was launched at City Hall theatre in Floriana (previously called ABC). Following Kremation’s untimely demise in 1988, Albert joined Malta’s most seminal speed/thrash metal band Vandals on bass in 1989, leaving the band in 1991 to help establish Forsaken and doom metal as a powerful force in Malta and beyond. With five full-length albums, two EPs and one split EP and countless live shows both locally and abroad, Forsaken remain a mainstay in epic doom metal, and have helped to internationalise the Maltese metal scene. In 2006, Albert co-founded Nomad Son – a band with combines vintage, classic rock elements with doom metal, which is presently working on its long-awaited fourth full-length album while still hitting the stage with the same furore and fervour that characterised the band’s live shows in Malta and abroad since their inception. In 2011, Albert decided to start his own studio project , Albert Bell’s Sacro Sanctus , which sees Albert handling all the song-writing, vocals and most of the instrumentation, while paying homage to his formative influences, from Venom and Celtic Frost, to Motorhead and Black Sabbath. A fourth full-length album (charting 700 years of medieval European history) titled “Sword of Fierbois” was released in September, 2022 once more on Italy’s Metal on Metal Records. In 2019, Albert re-joined Vandals (now called X-Vandals ) on second guitar. The band are presently focused on writing a new album to which Albert is also contributing to. Albert is also the founder of the Malta Doom Metal festival, which is now on hiatus after 10 memorable editions (between 2009-2018) where Albert and his team secured memorable shows by various doom and old school metal bands to the gratification of the Island’s passionate doom and old school metal community. In 2021, Albert was recruited by the historic Brazilian doom band The Cross to handle all the bass work for their new album “Act II: Walls of the Forgotten”. < Back Daniel Vassallo Guitars Daniel Vassallo was born on the 24th January 2006. Music has always been part of his life and was particularly fascinated by the guitar. He started learning/playing at eleven on acoustic, and although he transferred to playing electrical, he continues his studies on classical guitar playing getting his o’levels and now is working on intermediate level. Still, rock was always important, and Daniel tried with a number of different bands until Soul, with whom as he stated: “Guitar and rock have truly saved my life and in this band I feel (at) home, as songs aren’t written, they’re simply released”. Viper Soup Complex vipersoupcomplex.com < Back Viper Soup Complex is a Maltese Progressive/Avant-Garde Rock/Metal band formed in 2012 that specializes in unconventional music and unorthodox stage antics. Stylistically, VSC delves into multilayered sonic outbursts. Often accompanied by dreamlike musical textures.Thematically, the lyrics are mostly influenced by the absurd. So far, all the songs take a form of a story telling scenario. I n Malta, the band has shared the stage with Septic Flesh, Enemy OF Reality, and Thurisaz. Abroad, with Riverside, Katatonia, Within Temptation, and Planet of Zeus. 2018 saw the release of the debut album: RED FUGUE. Currently, VSC is composing new material, while revisiting the RED FUGUE material for live purposes and musical growth. Align The Tide facebook.com/alignthetide < Back Formed in September 2015, the band experimented with several different music sounds while working alongside different international musicians, extracting influences and styles. The band have been exploring music genres for the past nine years before settling in the active sound you hear today! The work on their first debut album ‘DEAD RELIGION’ was in progress. Merchandise has been designed & produced to accompany the above release. In May 2018, the band supported the legendary band ‘Mushroomhead’ on their American tour visiting several main cities such as: Mesa, San Diego, Portland, Seattle, Jerome, Fort Collins, Denver, Colorado Springs, Lincoln, Waterloo, Minneapolis, Joliet, Madison, Racine, Cleveland. The band participated in several local gigs & festivals where they have rooted their main fan base before embarking on a mini European tour visiting Germany and the Czech Republic. In April 2019, the band has signed an official contract with Cleopatra Records and released their debut album ‘DEAD RELIGION’ in 2019 on digipack / vinyl. The band had some line-up changes and thus today they are an established quintet spurring heavy music all the way! During the pandemic era the band kept busy by recording a new full-length album titled ‘HOLLOW’ which was released in August 2022 via Cleopatra Records. Chaotic Remains www.chaoticremains.com < Back Originally formed in 2008 but debuted in 2011, Chaotic Remains is a Death Metal band, currently consisting of 4 members : Sean Storm Baldacchino as the main vocalist, Zain Gauci on drums, Julian Bacon & Roderick Sciberras on guitars. Back in 2008 the band started as a 6 piece, with the original aim of producing music which consisted of a mixture of metal styles merging together. Managing to produce their first demo in 2011 and after debuting with Thy Legion on 12th August 2011, the band decided to focus directly and stick to Symphonic Death Metal, but due to differences between the members and their style the band went through a lot of member changes which resulted to constantly delaying and unable to launch their full length EP but still managing to share the stage with renowned local and foreign acts throughout the years. Late 2017 (15/12/2017), Chaotic Remains, released their first full length Album: “ We are Legion” under Mighty Music. Together with William Debattista on Synth and Andew Grech on bass, the band managed to produce an album which consisted of various elements of different styles and genres in its tracks which comprise a mixture of melody and heavy riffs whilst delving into aspects of death metal. Although it was mainly labelled as “Symphonic Death Metal”, the band managed to create their unique style. Having a unique style has opened new paths for the band but along the way most of the members still felt that the band was not moving into the right direction. As a result the band decided to take a new path and focus entirely on death metal, releasing a new single called “Blood and Gore” on 20/11/2021. Mur.Doc 104 < Back Founded in 2015, Mur.Doc 104 is a 5-piece old-school thrash metal band from Malta influenced by the Bay Area Movement of the 80s, citing bands like Exodus, Death Angel, Forbidden & Hirax as main influences. The band was founded by guitarists Joseph and Steven (Animamortua), with Oliver (A Black White Satellite) joining soon after on drums and Andrew on bass. In 2017, Luke (Killerwitch) joined the band as frontman to complete the line-up Since their first show in 2018, Mur.Doc 104 were called in to play all major local metal events & festivals and have shared the stage with various international acts including Leprous, Omnium Gatherum, Kryptos, Insulter & Doomas amongst others. In 2019, the band parted ways with founding member Steven, later to be replaced by Shaun (Rankin/ Ex-Pupi tal-Loghob) on guitars in 2020, then in 2022, Sean (Sonic Storm/ Psychopath/ Zabbeth) took over bass duties instead of Andrew, thus completing the line-up as it is today. Mur.Doc 104 released their first song titled Insolenza in peak COVID pandemic as an ode to the dour times the nation was going through, and the inconsistencies witnessed by the common people. They later re-released an English version of the song (titled Reign of the Dead) for their international fans.
