  • Mark Tonna, Singer

< Back Mark Tonna Singer Mark Tonna is a Maltese singer, songwriter, and composer whose musical journey began in the small town of Żurrieq, where he was born on March 13, 1963. His love for music sparked early—at just eleven years old, he formed a school choir and guitar group to perform during mass, laying the foundation for a lifelong artistic career. In the years that followed, Mark explored various musical styles, performing in pop and rock bands—often alongside his brother Claudio—before stepping into the spotlight as a solo artist in 1993. His voice and stage presence quickly gained attention in both the local and international music scenes. Mark's debut album Before My Eyes was released in 1996, featuring twelve tracks, nine of which he personally wrote and composed. That same year, he debuted his first original musical Jisimni Katarina, inspired by the life of St. Catherine. He followed it up with Mill-Jasar Għall-Qawmien, a second musical centered around the passion of Christ, for which he wrote both music and lyrics. Throughout his career, Mark has been a consistent presence in Malta's major music festivals. He participated in Kanzunetta għall-Ewropa, the Malta International Song Festival, L-Għanja tal-Poplu—which he won in 1996 with the song Allerġija Għall-Bnedmin—and Konkors Kanżunetta Indipendenza, where he claimed first place in 2000 with Waħdek Ma Tkun Qatt. Mark's talent also carried him beyond Malta’s shores. He represented the country at the Discovery Festival in Bulgaria in 1998, winning the Best International Artistic Performance award. His international performances have taken him to Tunisia, Italy, Dubai, the UK, Turkey, the USA, Canada, and Australia—where he toured with fellow Maltese artist Debbie Scerri, performing for Maltese communities abroad. A versatile performer, Mark has also starred in a variety of local and international musicals, including Ali Baba, It-Tfajla tal-Palazz, Ir-Rebbieħ, and Ħidmietna—a 2013 production commemorating the 70th anniversary of the General Workers Union. For four consecutive years, he was nominated for Best Male Singer at the Malta Music Awards, a testament to his enduring impact on the Maltese music scene. Whether as a vocalist, composer, or lyricist, Mark Tonna has remained a passionate and prolific figure in Maltese music—bringing heartfelt stories to life through song and stage. • Destiny Band Oz

Destiny Band Oz < Back Destiny Band Oz is a multi-award winning duo comprising husband and wife singer-songwriters, Thomas and Tessa Libreri. Their versatile music and vocal styles range from soulful ballads to pumpy, country rock; ('Country, Rock and Soul! ) They have already released 3 albums and 2 EPs and are excited to have just released their new album of original songs with new producer, Damian Cafarella of EOR Studios called 'Who I Might Be'. As children, Thomas and Tessa grew up in the suburbs of Melbourne, Australia. Thomas in Reservoir and Tessa in Kilsyth. They were both musically inclined and tutored in music and singing. Thomas formed his first band at 12 playing bass guitar and had singing lessons from Normie Rowe. He played in many bands over the years. Tessa performed in musicals, went to the Johnny Young Talent School and was classically trained by Suzanne Steele then with Audrey Duggan. Thomas and Tessa met in a line-dancing country band based in Kinglake in 1996 which seemed like 'destiny' and they soon branched out on their own as a duo and later with various full band line-ups performing at clubs and functions. They married, had children and settled in Kinglake. They didn't perform much whilst their children were very young and then the horrific Black Saturday bushfires struck. Thomas and Tessa fought and saved their home and family and some of their neighbours but not all - and in the aftermath they decided to move their family away to Gippsland for a new start. (Thomas received a 'BM' - Bravery Medal from the Governor-General of Australia for his actions in saving a neighbour after the fire who sadly died a few weeks later in hospital) both Thomas and Tessa were heavily involved in the relief and rebuilding effort personally and through their building business at the time. After moving to Gippsland, they devoted themselves to the activities of their primary school aged daughters, joined community groups and clubs in the area and soon found themselves performing full-on again. They decided to record an album of their original songs written over the years because of their life-changing experience and knowing how fragile life is, so it was more for posterity than anything but they were encouraged by local radio hosts who'd heard them perform their songs to release a song to radio, which they did in 2017. • Issac Azzopardi, Guitarist | Singer

< Back Issac Azzopardi Guitarist | Singer Isaac’s journey with the guitar began at the age of five, inspired by playing his father’s classical guitar at home. Despite struggling to find a teacher at such a young age, he eventually started classical guitar lessons at six under Evan Plumpton and later also started learning electric guitar at eight with Marc Galea. His first public performance came at the age of seven. More recently, he began vocal training last summer, aiming to refine his voice to a professional level for the band. Isaac is currently working towards his classical DipLCM Diploma and electric guitar ALCM Diploma while also preparing for his Music A-Level this summer. His musical influences span jazz, rock, blues, and funk, and he draws inspiration from guitar legends such as Slash, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Joe Satriani, Eddie Van Halen, Jimi Hendrix, Matteo Mancuso and a lot of others. Within RELOAD MT, Isaac enjoys writing original music, trying out new covers, and performing live. Reflecting on the band’s journey, he notes how their second gig attracted a larger and more engaged crowd, while their performances at Wild Honey Valletta marked a significant milestone as their first paid gigs. Isaac notes how their performance at 97 NOTES' Music Wars competition helped boost the bands confidence since the crowd were cheering for the band throughout all of their songs. He also enjoyed speaking with the other bands (The Glades and Memphis Mac) since they had the same music taste. Isaac also finds their 3rd gig at Muddy Waters fun and enjoyable, being their first 2 hour set. Looking ahead, he hopes to help the band grow, secure larger gigs, and expand their original music catalog, which currently includes two completed songs. He also wishes to produce more content for their social media page. Isaac is particularly excited for their new gigs including playing in Earth Garden 25' which could help boost their popularity and meet other bands. • Geistmaschine

Geistmaschine Maria Baldacchino < Back Geistmaschine originated from the creative aftermath following Timothy and Michael’s departure from their previous band, Goldstein. They were soon joined by Gabriel in May 2023, and together, they began a new musical journey. The trio, each bringing a unique set of influences and passions, formed a cohesive unit driven by a desire to explore and redefine the boundaries of post-metal music. Timothy, the band’s guitarist and effects aficionado, draws inspiration from the intricate narratives of graphic novels and the expansive sounds of bands like Russian Circles and We Lost the Sea. Michael, the bassist, incorporates his love for cinema and dark, atmospheric music from groups such as Ulver and Mogwai, enriching the band's soundscapes. Gabriel, on drums, brings a blend of grindcore punk and experimental music, adding an unpredictable edge to the music with his noisy, chaotic bursts. The name Geistmaschine, which translates to 'Ghost Machine,' was inspired by the haunting atmospheres of the German television series ‘Dark’. This name holds personal significance for each member, embodying the spirit of their musical and thematic explorations which often delve into themes of loss, intense change, and the vastness of space. Currently, Geistmaschine is preparing for their debut full-length album, focusing on refining their songs and live performances. With aspirations to sign with a record label and tour internationally, the band is poised to make significant strides in the music world, inviting listeners into their evocative and otherworldly sonic universe.
