Haine facebook.com/official.haine < Back Deathcore act Haine was established in the fall of 2017. The band's mission statement was simple; forgo all preconceived notions and pre-existing scene stereotypes to create their own brand of extreme music. Haine's sound was moulded by influences from a vast variety of musical genres, resulting in a deeply layered sound combining heavy grooves and crushing breakdowns, punctuated by melodic overtones. Haine released their first three singles, 'This Darkness', 'Our Own Messiahs' and 'I, Empyreal' in 2018 with the intention of showcasing the band's sound. These were soon followed by a fourth single and first music video, 'Breeding Falsity' in 2019. At the end of 2019, the band started planning and pre-production for its debut self-titled EP release. The EP was recorded by David Depasquale at SpineSplitter Studio in the summer of 2020, and its first single 'Burn it Down' was released in the November that followed. Its accompanying music video was met with high praise, with Deathcore giants Shadow of Intent joining the fold by reacting to it on a live stream. Following this, the EP was released on the 6th of January, 2021, with excellent feedback coming from the local scene. This release also allowed them to start networking beyond our shores, on the international scene. During 2023, Haine will also be recording their first full-length album, which will consist of 10 tracks. The band is currently handling pre-production prior to entering the studio, and the album will be a step forward in the musical trajectory of Haine’s sound. Reload MT < Back Formed in November 2024, RELOAD MT is a dynamic three-piece blues and rock band based in Malta. The group consists of Isaac Azzopardi (lead guitarist and main vocalist), Jake Azzopardi (bassist, backing vocalist, and keyboardist), and Aiden Bondin (drummer). Despite their recent formation, the band has already performed three times at Muddy Waters, twice at Wild Honey Valletta, and once at 97 noted steadily building a strong reputation in the local music scene. The three musicians first crossed paths in 2023 when they started playing together in their former school band, Electric Echoes, which went on to perform on the prestigious Sanremo stage. However, after a few months, the group disbanded, with Isaac, Jake, and Aiden continuing to perform together at notable events such as X Factor Malta 2024 and Earth Garden Festival 2024. Prior to becoming RELOAD MT, the trio performed under the name SUP3RSONIC, a four-piece band with an additional rhythm guitarist and lead vocalist. However, just a week before their first gig at Muddy Waters in November 2024, their fourth member departed, leaving Isaac, Jake, and Aiden to carry on as a trio. Rising to the challenge, they rebranded as RELOAD MT and successfully debuted at Muddy Waters. Since then, the band has been securing multiple performance opportunities and expanding their reach. Outbound < Back OutBound is a Maltese alternative rock band known for their raw energy, heartfelt songwriting, and dynamic live performances. Formed in November 2022 after an impromptu gig at Wild Honey Bar in Valletta, the original lineup featured Steve Galea (guitar), Catherine Gatt (vocals), Louie Farrugia (drums), and Mikhail Farrugia (bass). What began as a spontaneous performance quickly evolved into a full-fledged band driven by a shared passion for music. Drawing inspiration from iconic rock acts such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Arctic Monkeys, The Police, The Killers, and U2, OutBound carved a space for themselves on the local scene. Gigging extensively across Malta and Gozo at renowned venues like Exiles, La Bottega, Zion Reggae Bar, Crossroads Spinola, Front Gozo, Thirsty Barber, and the Corinthia Hotel, the band steadily built a loyal fanbase through high-energy sets and a growing social media presence. The band found its creative sanctuary in "Nannu Mike's" basement in St. Julian’s, which became their main rehearsal space and songwriting hub. It was in this cozy, underground setting that they wrote their first original song, Nothing Comes Easy—a title that would later echo the band’s own journey through artistic and personal challenges. Following a busy summer of performances and songwriting in 2023, the band faced internal creative differences, leading to a temporary split in late 2024. A rejected recording offer and diverging artistic directions caused the pause—but not for long. In February 2024, OutBound reformed with a refreshed lineup: Steve Galea (guitar), Catherine Gatt (vocals), Louie Farrugia (drums), and newcomer Matthew Drago on bass. This second chapter marked a turning point, as the band teamed up with producer Chris Gatt to begin recording their long-awaited original material, with band members also stepping in as co-producers. Their debut single Nothing Comes Easy was sent to the U.S. for mixing and mastering by two heavyweights in the industry—Grammy-winning mixing engineer Matt Wallace (Maroon 5 – Songs About Jane), who praised the song's "muscular and melodic, powerful sound," and mastering legend Dave Collins (Soundgarden – Superunknown). The result is a track that captures OutBound’s essence: gritty, emotional, and relentlessly determined. Released on March 19, 2025, Nothing Comes Easy is a powerful anthem of perseverance and passion—a musical reflection of the band’s commitment to staying authentic and resilient. Mur.Doc 104 < Back Founded in 2015, Mur.Doc 104 is a 5-piece old-school thrash metal band from Malta influenced by the Bay Area Movement of the 80s, citing bands like Exodus, Death Angel, Forbidden & Hirax as main influences. The band was founded by guitarists Joseph and Steven (Animamortua), with Oliver (A Black White Satellite) joining soon after on drums and Andrew on bass. In 2017, Luke (Killerwitch) joined the band as frontman to complete the line-up Since their first show in 2018, Mur.Doc 104 were called in to play all major local metal events & festivals and have shared the stage with various international acts including Leprous, Omnium Gatherum, Kryptos, Insulter & Doomas amongst others. R.A.S - Rage Against Society < Back The band was formed by Ray Schembri (gtr/vox) and Jason Mizzi (bass) back in September 1995 and a few months later Ray Micallef joined in on drums. Along the years there were many lineup changes, which reflected also in the music style which varied from Punk Rock to more aggressive Hardcore and anarcho punk genre. Lyrically R.A.S. speak out against all forms of oppression and most of the songs are a loud protest full of angst and rebellion. The band released a demo tape in 2000 titled 'Shameless Music' and in 2010 titled '15 Years Of Kaos' and in 2015 the CD 'Rezistenza' which is all in Maltese language. Aptly named ‘The Carnage Lit By Darkness’ saw its light in 2005, a light that shone new aural darkness in the band’s sound; drawing blood from its predecessor, this second blast of symphonic black metal was laced and graced with the industrial elements for which MartYriuM would start to be know for. ‘Carnage’ was what first put the band on international ears and eyes, received and selling well, summoning metal hearts and minds to get in touch. Noogie's Crew < Back Noogie’s Crew was the dream of Nigel ‘Noogie’ Buttigieg, who at the age of sixteen, wanted to form a Hard Rock / Heavy Metal band with the intention of providing the rock scene a different sound, a sound that merged old school rock melodies and riffs with the rougher edges of modern metal. So when Noogie, on guitars and lead vocals, was joined by Charles Buttigieg and drummer Mario Dalli, they hit the ground running writing songs for Noogie’s Crew. Initially they perfomed as a trio, but in 2011 they were joined by guitarist Clive Brincat, playing at available musical venues on the Maltese islands. Another differnet thing in Noogie’s Crew was that both Charles and Mario did backing vocals to support Noogie in creating a differnet sound. In 2012, when Clive left the band, Noogie decided to concentrate more on his other venture, Infinite Loop . Noogie’s Crew took form again in 2017 , initially again as the original trio, when the first self-titled EP Noogie’s Crew, was recorded. In 2017 the band was joined by David Cassar Torreggiani on lead guitar, particpating in festivals, one of which was headlined by Blaze Bailey at the Orpheum in Gzira. When David Cassar Torrgiani decided to move on, Jonathan Camilleri joined the crew. With the inclusion of Jonathan, the band continued to improve its song writing abilites and gig performances. In 2019 the band supported Dee Snider, Kryptos and Kiss Forever. 2019 was also the year when Noogie’s Crew launched a full album entitled ‘ Till Dark Returns’. This was an album that had something to offer to all types of metalheads; classic rock sounds, headbanging riffs plus speed, tightness, power and melody. An album that was given rave reviews by foreign rock magazines and podcasts. Noogie’s Crew did their last gig on 30th October 2021, when Noogie and Jonathan both separately decided to continue their musical life in different form. Nomad Son < Back Formed in early 2006, doom metal band NOMAD SON brings together the creative forces of Jordan Cutajar (vocals), Chris Grech (guitar), Julian Grech (keyboards), Edward Magri (drums), all members of FRENZY MONO (one of Malta's most prolific heavy rock bands), and Albert Bell - a veteran of the Maltese metal scene and bassist of FORSAKEN (established in 1991 and now at the forefront of the European doom scene). The inception of the band owes much to Temple Studios owner and music production guru David Vella. While FRENZY MONO were recording their debut album "Unorthodox", David deciphered another, darker and meaner dimension to the band which could be nurtured to develop into a doom metal oriented project, distinct from the traditional rock edge of the guys' musical endeavours to date. One phone call away, Albert Bell responded to David Vella and FRENZY MONO's invitation to team up for a studio recorded jam, which resulted in two molten, raw, Hammond-driven, doom-laden tracks in one afternoon session! Enthused by the result of this session, the strong vibe that each of the guys felt during their jams, and moreover, mutual respect for each member's creative abilities, the guys continued to rehearse and build their repertoire in between meeting their commitments with their main bands. What had simply started as a studio jam/project - NOMAD SON - has now developed into a fully-fledged doom band with a characteristic sound influenced by BLACK SABBATH and other '70s classic bands, '80s heavy metal and milestone doom acts such as TROUBLE, PENTAGRAM, SAINT VITUS and CANDLEMASS. In the fall of 2007 NOMAD SON played live for the first time, at Doom Nite, together with FORSAKEN and UNSILENCE. In December 2007 the newly started Metal On Metal Records, upon hearing the 2 demo tracks, immediately offered NOMAD SON a deal for releasing their CD. The band's debut album "First Light" was recorded in March 2008 and released on July 19th 2008. It came like an earthquake upon the unexpecting doom fanatics worldwide, instantly gaining fantastic acclaim. A molten slab of addictive, apocalyptic, heavy doom metal with a '70s dark touch was forged in the small isle of Malta. Apart from encouraging sales worldwide, the international metal press' reaction superseded expectations, with the album described as a ground-breaking effort in doom metal circles by leading metal web and printed zines. Various tracks from the album also appeared in a number of compilations featuring metal bands worldwide, like the "Metal Crusade" vol. XVII sampler of one of the most important German metal magazines, Heavy. A limited vinyl edition of the album was released co-jointly by Metal On Metal and France's Emanes Metal records exactly one year after the CD version, in July 2009. The band embarked on a mini European tour titled "The Light of Doom" tour in the same month to commemorate the vinyl edition's release. The tour saw NOMAD SON hitting various cities throughout Germany and the Netherlands and also included an appearance at the highly-acclaimed Headbangers Open Air warm-up show in Itzehoe, Germany. This series of foreign gigs continued to consolidate the band's reputation as a solid, non-comprising live act as also evidenced by many local gigs at packed clubs, including Malta Doom Metal Assault in May 2009, at which they shared stage with FORSAKEN and DARK QUARTERER among others. NOMAD SON's unrelenting efforts since their inception were recognized at the 2009 Malta Music Awards held in November 2009 at the MFCC in Ta' Qali where the band were nominated for Best Album, Best Heavy Metal Band and Best Album Artwork. Following the second edition of the Malta Doom Metal Assault in February 2010, in April this year NOMAD SON featured at the 7th edition of the reputable Doom Shall Rise festival in Goeppingen, Germany, alongside acts like ISOLE, THE 11TH HOUR, DOOMSHINE, SEAMOUNT, MIRROR OF DECEPTION and many others. The band's performance at DSR was very positively received by those present and continued to highlight NOMAD SON's ability to mesmerize audience with their ferocious brand of heavy doom metal. In June the same year they were chosen to support PARADISE LOST at Mediterranean Metal Gathering in Malta, so a big crowd of headbangers had the chance to experience the irresistible, crushing power that NOMAD SON bring forward. Meanwhile, in April 2010, the band entered Temple Studios again and with Malta's sound engineering guru David Vella at the helm, recorded the second and much awaited album "The Eternal Return". Their sophomore effort saw the light of day on July 16th 2010 and brought dark, Hammond-driven, ominous heavy doom metal tinged with epic and obscure soundscapes - the perfect tapestry for the band's take on the spiritual, social and moral decay afflicting humankind in today's unrepentant world. NOMAD SON won the Best Heavy Metal Band and Best International Achievement awards at the Malta Music Awards in November 2010. Other 2010 achievements worth mentioning are: "The Eternal Return" being voted the Best Doom Metal Album of 2010 (with 246 votes out of 559 voters) on Delaware's SilenceSoLoud.com website and Album of the Year on Vampster.com (Germany) by doom master Frank Helweg (Doom Shall Rise Festival). After "The Eternal Return" CD release more NOMAD SON live performances followed: several gigs in Malta (including the annual Malta Doom Metal festival), headlining show at Pax Julia Metal Fest II in Portugal in October 2010 (together with DAWNRIDER, WILD and PRAYERS OF SANITY) and in February 2011 a 3-days headlining UK tour with MORTALICUM, THE PROPHECY and IRON VOID, including Doomsday IV festival in Wakefield, together with IRON HEARSE, ARKHAM WITCH, just to mention the more important names. On October 29th 2011 NOMAD SON got to play at the second most important and biggest doom festival (besides Doom Shall Rise): Hammer of Doom in Wuerzburg, Germany. They shared the stage with MANILLA ROAD, FORSAKEN, DOOMSWORD, THE 11TH HOUR, LORD VICAR, ORCHID, BATTLEROAR, YET SO FAR, BLOOD CEREMONY and several other bands. One week later NOMAD SON played at the Malta Doom Metal festival, together with PAGAN ALTAR, FORSAKEN, ARKHAM WITCH, OFFICIUM TRISTE, MIRROR OF DECEPTION, TEMPLE OF PAIN, FOCUS INDULGENS, VICTIMS OF CREATION, VOID MOON, MOUNTAIN THRONE, FANGTOOTH and GRIFFIN DEVICE. Coinciding with the band's appearance at the much feted Hammer of Doom festival in Germany, on October 28th 2011, "The Eternal Return" was released co-jointly by Metal On Metal and Emanes Metal on vinyl, as gatefold LP. Following the successful gigs abroad and in their own country, in the fall of 2012 NOMAD SON started recording their 3rd opus "The Darkening". During the following months the band focused on the studio work, making a break for only one show: in March they went to Switzerland to play at the 10th edition of Elements of Rock festival. The new album was completed in May 2013 and, like their two previous albums, mixed, mastered and produced by David Vella at Temple Studios. "The Darkening" sees the band upping the dose of high-octane traditional doom metal mixed with '70s hard rock, NWOBHM and '80s classic heavy metal and was released on August 30th 2013. NOMAD SON's triumphant march continues... On the same day Metal On Metal Records re-released the band's sold-out debut "First Light", however not alone, but on DVDplus format together with "Pilgrimages of Doom" DVD. Niket < Back Post-Metal band NIKET began as a solo project in late 2019 by Nicholas Bonello. The name of the band NIKET refers to the melancholic sorrow one feels in different scenarios throughout life, something that is relatable to any listener. Throughout 2020 Nicholas has worked with other musicians who gave their input and musical talent to take the tracks to the next level, with Claudio Toscano on bass and Dave 'Beast' Fenech taking on more established roles in the project. Mistura Elisa Von Brockdorff < Back Mistura started as a Maltese duo with original music that has elements of blues and rock, both electric and acoustic. It first appeared in 2012. Antonio Olivari and Malcolm Bonnici are the founding members and songwriters of all their songs, which are all in Maltese. Throughout the years, they collaborated with many musicians who accompanied them on both live performances and recordings. These include Matthew Agius on bass, Mark Andrew Azzopardi on drums, Francesco Sultana on drums, cajón and clarinet, Martina Aquilina on piano, Joseph Axiak on bass, and by Janice Debattista, Nathalie Pace and Cheryl Camilleri on backing vocals. Their public debut was at the 36th edition of L-Għanja tal-Poplu with the song Isma' Bilfors where they were awarded the WAFA Best New Talent award. Since then, Mistura has played at many venues, including Għanafest, Notte Bianca, Poeżija Plus, The Farsons Great Beer Festival, the University of Malta Evenings on Campus, Teatru Unplugged and Kotra festival. The name of the band is a play on the three meanings that the word has in Maltese: (1) derived from the Italian word for mixture 'misto', (2) liquid medicine, and (3) hidden / mysterious.
