  • All Hands Lost

All Hands Lost < Back All Hands Lost is an instrumental progressive metal duo founded in 2020, blending elements of progressive rock with intricate guitar work and melodic soundscapes. Inspired by artists such as Plini, Intervals, Animals as Leaders, Periphery, The Contortionist, and Jakub Zytecki, the project initially began as a solo endeavor by guitarist and composer Jean Vella before evolving into a collaborative effort. Bassist Claudio Toscano first contributed to the 2022 EP on the track Starve Your Burdens and has since joined as a full-time member, bringing dynamic basslines and fresh creative input. • Infinite Loop

Infinite Loop < Back INFINITE LOOP is a dynamic Soft Rock ensemble that skillfully integrates intellectually stimulating lyrics, catchy melodies, an array of rhythmic genres, and spontaneous instrumental improvisation to produce an electrifying auditory experience. Their music is not only meant to be enjoyed but also contemplated and in some cases, even danced to. The band's moniker is derived from the monotony of everyday life, which at times can resemble an 'Infinite Loop', and their music serves as an attempt to break free from this repetition. The band was initially founded in the early summer of 2010 by Duncan Borg, the drummer, and Roberto Faure, the rhythm guitarist. The band welcomed Nigel Buttigieg as the lead guitarist in late November 2011, and Gabrijel Mansueto joined as the bassist in January 2012. As Nigel and Gabrijel both possess exceptional vocal abilities, the band decided to incorporate two lead singers into their music, adding a unique twist to their sound. Their debut singles, "Another Day" and "Longing for You," can be accessed on YouTube, providing a glimpse into INFINITE LOOP's exceptional musical abilities. < Back Nigel 'Noogie' Buttigieg Vocals, Guitars Nigel grew up around music. Following his dad and fellow band member, Charles Buttigieg around, during his rehearsals with his old bands, taking him to gigs and telling him stories of how Malta was rich in live music during the eighties, a scene which was dominated by rock, punk, metal and new romantics. Listening to these stories Nigel strongly believes that he was born in the wrong era. And agrees that he really got into music when his dad put on Black Sabbath's 'Paranoid' on their old stereo. His father says that after his son heard that song, no one could stop him from singing. He was 10. Then he heard Iron Maiden's 'Number of the Beast' and at that time the thing that impressed him the most wasn't Bruce Dickinson's vocals, (which by the way he was, still is and will always will be the best vocalist that ever lived in his opinion) it was Maiden's musicianship and the chemistry together, and that's when he decided to start playing an instrument. He started off by learning and playing the drums, but after 4 years Nigel realised, he wanted something more up front facing the crowds, so he switched to guitar and had been hooked ever since. • Massacre House Party

Massacre House Party Ian Muscat < Back They don't do house, but they like to party - Massacre House Party are a surfy garage, post-punky, indie rock band who've been charming the tiny sunny island of Malta with their catchy, body moving tunes. Coolness has never been so proud to have as its ambassadors a trio, who joined forces even unknown to their good selves, to play a string of memorable live shows and unleash blistering, poppy singles to the people out there, as long as they enjoy themselves too. After a couple of years (2011 - 2014) with Sylvan Borg on guitars and Aaron Sammut on drums playing together as The Sylvan Aaron Massacre, alongside an inanimate click track and several layers of plastified synths, the band decided that they needed the helpful hand of Samwel Mallia (2014 - ), who through quick picking and slick fingering (on bass), the duo-now-trio became known to mankind as Massacre House Party. • Outbound

Outbound < Back OutBound is a Maltese alternative rock band known for their raw energy, heartfelt songwriting, and dynamic live performances. Formed in November 2022 after an impromptu gig at Wild Honey Bar in Valletta, the original lineup featured Steve Galea (guitar), Catherine Gatt (vocals), Louie Farrugia (drums), and Mikhail Farrugia (bass). What began as a spontaneous performance quickly evolved into a full-fledged band driven by a shared passion for music. Drawing inspiration from iconic rock acts such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Arctic Monkeys, The Police, The Killers, and U2, OutBound carved a space for themselves on the local scene. Gigging extensively across Malta and Gozo at renowned venues like Exiles, La Bottega, Zion Reggae Bar, Crossroads Spinola, Front Gozo, Thirsty Barber, and the Corinthia Hotel, the band steadily built a loyal fanbase through high-energy sets and a growing social media presence. The band found its creative sanctuary in "Nannu Mike's" basement in St. Julian’s, which became their main rehearsal space and songwriting hub. It was in this cozy, underground setting that they wrote their first original song, Nothing Comes Easy—a title that would later echo the band’s own journey through artistic and personal challenges. Following a busy summer of performances and songwriting in 2023, the band faced internal creative differences, leading to a temporary split in late 2024. A rejected recording offer and diverging artistic directions caused the pause—but not for long. In February 2024, OutBound reformed with a refreshed lineup: Steve Galea (guitar), Catherine Gatt (vocals), Louie Farrugia (drums), and newcomer Matthew Drago on bass. This second chapter marked a turning point, as the band teamed up with producer Chris Gatt to begin recording their long-awaited original material, with band members also stepping in as co-producers. Their debut single Nothing Comes Easy was sent to the U.S. for mixing and mastering by two heavyweights in the industry—Grammy-winning mixing engineer Matt Wallace (Maroon 5 – Songs About Jane), who praised the song's "muscular and melodic, powerful sound," and mastering legend Dave Collins (Soundgarden – Superunknown). The result is a track that captures OutBound’s essence: gritty, emotional, and relentlessly determined. Released on March 19, 2025, Nothing Comes Easy is a powerful anthem of perseverance and passion—a musical reflection of the band’s commitment to staying authentic and resilient. The song’s message encourages listeners to pursue their dreams despite setbacks, a sentiment born directly from the band’s lived experience. OutBound is currently back in the studio working on new material and preparing for more collaborations with Wallace, Collins, and Chris Gatt. With their debut single setting the tone, the band is poised to take their sound to even greater heights. • Lord Adder

Lord Adder facebook.com/LordAdder/ < Back Lord Adder made a comeback in 2019 and they haven’t looked back since. They are on a mission to inject their strong dose of heavy metal into the music scene and they’re not planning on slowing down anytime soon. The band was one of the most followed bands in the ’90s, filling every venue they were playing at and were supporting acts to big names like Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, Saxon, Girls School, and Smokie. They were the first local band to release a live album which also included a VHS of the live recording studio session which was filmed in front of an audience, making it the first of its kind during that time. The band to fans’ dismay was dismantled and all members went their separate ways and ventured onto other projects. Fast forward to 2019 and frontman, musician, and songwriter Mark Spiteri wanted to reform the band this time with a slight change in lineup and with a heavier sound than that which they had bowed out of the scene with. Lord Adder’s lineup now features original members Mark Spiteri (Songwriter, frontman, and bass player) and Raymond Micallef (drummer) plus new members Robert Tomasuolo and Charles Muscat both on guitars. Just before covid hit they were part of the lineup at the warm-up party for the renowned event ‘Shellshock Festival’ and more gigs were lined up for 2020/2021 however like many artists alike everything was halted and put on hold. Frontman Mark Spiteri tells us that he used the time of the pandemic to write some of his best material yet. ‘’The pandemic gave me the time to focus more on songwriting without all the distractions and life in general getting in the way. I wrote over 16 songs and as soon as restrictions eased and we could get back to rehearsing, the songs came to life with the rest of the band’’. He goes on to tell us ‘’ We could have waited and released the albums separately but with all the doom and gloom going on the world right now we wanted to give a glimpse of hope and courage to all those listening through the best way we know how – our music’’ Band Members Robert Tomasuolo Guitars Robert Tomasuolo Ray "Hamiemu" Micallef Drums Ray "Hamiemu" Micallef Mark Spiteri Bass, Vocals Mark Spiteri Discography Date Title Type Listen 1994 Hemlock Album 1996 Behind Closed Doors Album 1997 Site of Evidence Live Album 2022 Good Guys in Bad Land Single 2022 Operation Pedastal Album 2022 1565 Album Buy the band's merch Follow the band Previous Band Next Band

Back in 2008 the band started as a 6 piece, with the original aim of producing music which consisted of a mixture of metal styles merging together. Managing to produce their first demo in 2011 and after debuting with Thy Legion on 12th August 2011, the band decided to focus directly and stick to Symphonic Death Metal, but due to differences between the members and their style the band went through a lot of member changes which resulted to constantly delaying and unable to launch their full length EP but still managing to share the stage with renowned local and foreign acts throughout the years. Late 2017 (15/12/2017), Chaotic Remains, released their first full length Album: “ We are Legion” under Mighty Music. Together with William Debattista on Synth and Andew Grech on bass, the band managed to produce an album which consisted of various elements of different styles and genres in its tracks which comprise a mixture of melody and heavy riffs whilst delving into aspects of death metal. Although it was mainly labelled as “Symphonic Death Metal”, the band managed to create their unique style. Having a unique style has opened new paths for the band but along the way most of the members still felt that the band was not moving into the right direction. As a result the band decided to take a new path and focus entirely on death metal, releasing a new single called “Blood and Gore” on 20/11/2021. • 400ppm

400ppm facebook.com/400ppmPunkRock/ < Back 400ppm is a punk rock band from Malta. No strangers to the local punk scene, when the trio got together in early 2018, they immediately began song writing and hit the stage later that year. The name of the band is a reference to the carbon dioxide levels in the atmosphere, measured in parts per million. It serves as an uncomfortable reminder that in recent years, the global concentration of CO2 has surpassed the 'safe' level and broken the 400ppm threshold, which is considered a point of no return. They refuse to accept the direction in which the world is heading and even though the damage done might be irreversible, they are stating their objection and calling individuals in large numbers to join in and bear witness to the madness of the times we are living in. The band is driven by a strong social consciousness that is reflected in the lyrics that offer a social commentary on contemporary issues, where, despite the bleak times of ours, they still try to have a good time in the artificial paradise of their practice room or wherever they manage to create a temporary utopia. 400ppm launched a 7" vinyl at Rock the South in June 2019, containing the tracks 'David Buckel' on the A-side and 'Massakru tal-Jien' on the B-side. In 2021, 400ppm released their full-length album 'Spirtu Pront' under Kewn Records, a 12-track punk rock album available digitally as well as on vinyl and cassette. • Nomad Son

Nomad Son < Back Formed in early 2006, doom metal band NOMAD SON brings together the creative forces of Jordan Cutajar (vocals), Chris Grech (guitar), Julian Grech (keyboards), Edward Magri (drums), all members of FRENZY MONO (one of Malta's most prolific heavy rock bands), and Albert Bell - a veteran of the Maltese metal scene and bassist of FORSAKEN (established in 1991 and now at the forefront of the European doom scene). The inception of the band owes much to Temple Studios owner and music production guru David Vella. While FRENZY MONO were recording their debut album "Unorthodox", David deciphered another, darker and meaner dimension to the band which could be nurtured to develop into a doom metal oriented project, distinct from the traditional rock edge of the guys' musical endeavours to date. One phone call away, Albert Bell responded to David Vella and FRENZY MONO's invitation to team up for a studio recorded jam, which resulted in two molten, raw, Hammond-driven, doom-laden tracks in one afternoon session! Enthused by the result of this session, the strong vibe that each of the guys felt during their jams, and moreover, mutual respect for each member's creative abilities, the guys continued to rehearse and build their repertoire in between meeting their commitments with their main bands. What had simply started as a studio jam/project - NOMAD SON - has now developed into a fully-fledged doom band with a characteristic sound influenced by BLACK SABBATH and other '70s classic bands, '80s heavy metal and milestone doom acts such as TROUBLE, PENTAGRAM, SAINT VITUS and CANDLEMASS. In the fall of 2007 NOMAD SON played live for the first time, at Doom Nite, together with FORSAKEN and UNSILENCE. In December 2007 the newly started Metal On Metal Records, upon hearing the 2 demo tracks, immediately offered NOMAD SON a deal for releasing their CD. The band's debut album "First Light" was recorded in March 2008 and released on July 19th 2008. It came like an earthquake upon the unexpecting doom fanatics worldwide, instantly gaining fantastic acclaim. A molten slab of addictive, apocalyptic, heavy doom metal with a '70s dark touch was forged in the small isle of Malta. Apart from encouraging sales worldwide, the international metal press' reaction superseded expectations, with the album described as a ground-breaking effort in doom metal circles by leading metal web and printed zines. Various tracks from the album also appeared in a number of compilations featuring metal bands worldwide, like the "Metal Crusade" vol. XVII sampler of one of the most important German metal magazines, Heavy. A limited vinyl edition of the album was released co-jointly by Metal On Metal and France's Emanes Metal records exactly one year after the CD version, in July 2009. The band embarked on a mini European tour titled "The Light of Doom" tour in the same month to commemorate the vinyl edition's release. The tour saw NOMAD SON hitting various cities throughout Germany and the Netherlands and also included an appearance at the highly-acclaimed Headbangers Open Air warm-up show in Itzehoe, Germany. This series of foreign gigs continued to consolidate the band's reputation as a solid, non-comprising live act as also evidenced by many local gigs at packed clubs, including Malta Doom Metal Assault in May 2009, at which they shared stage with FORSAKEN and DARK QUARTERER among others. NOMAD SON's unrelenting efforts since their inception were recognized at the 2009 Malta Music Awards held in November 2009 at the MFCC in Ta' Qali where the band were nominated for Best Album, Best Heavy Metal Band and Best Album Artwork. Following the second edition of the Malta Doom Metal Assault in February 2010, in April this year NOMAD SON featured at the 7th edition of the reputable Doom Shall Rise festival in Goeppingen, Germany, alongside acts like ISOLE, THE 11TH HOUR, DOOMSHINE, SEAMOUNT, MIRROR OF DECEPTION and many others. The band's performance at DSR was very positively received by those present and continued to highlight NOMAD SON's ability to mesmerize audience with their ferocious brand of heavy doom metal. In June the same year they were chosen to support PARADISE LOST at Mediterranean Metal Gathering in Malta, so a big crowd of headbangers had the chance to experience the irresistible, crushing power that NOMAD SON bring forward. Meanwhile, in April 2010, the band entered Temple Studios again and with Malta's sound engineering guru David Vella at the helm, recorded the second and much awaited album "The Eternal Return". Their sophomore effort saw the light of day on July 16th 2010 and brought dark, Hammond-driven, ominous heavy doom metal tinged with epic and obscure soundscapes - the perfect tapestry for the band's take on the spiritual, social and moral decay afflicting humankind in today's unrepentant world. NOMAD SON won the Best Heavy Metal Band and Best International Achievement awards at the Malta Music Awards in November 2010. Other 2010 achievements worth mentioning are: "The Eternal Return" being voted the Best Doom Metal Album of 2010 (with 246 votes out of 559 voters) on Delaware's SilenceSoLoud.com website and Album of the Year on Vampster.com (Germany) by doom master Frank Helweg (Doom Shall Rise Festival). After "The Eternal Return" CD release more NOMAD SON live performances followed: several gigs in Malta (including the annual Malta Doom Metal festival), headlining show at Pax Julia Metal Fest II in Portugal in October 2010 (together with DAWNRIDER, WILD and PRAYERS OF SANITY) and in February 2011 a 3-days headlining UK tour with MORTALICUM, THE PROPHECY and IRON VOID, including Doomsday IV festival in Wakefield, together with IRON HEARSE, ARKHAM WITCH, just to mention the more important names. On October 29th 2011 NOMAD SON got to play at the second most important and biggest doom festival (besides Doom Shall Rise): Hammer of Doom in Wuerzburg, Germany. They shared the stage with MANILLA ROAD, FORSAKEN, DOOMSWORD, THE 11TH HOUR, LORD VICAR, ORCHID, BATTLEROAR, YET SO FAR, BLOOD CEREMONY and several other bands. One week later NOMAD SON played at the Malta Doom Metal festival, together with PAGAN ALTAR, FORSAKEN, ARKHAM WITCH, OFFICIUM TRISTE, MIRROR OF DECEPTION, TEMPLE OF PAIN, FOCUS INDULGENS, VICTIMS OF CREATION, VOID MOON, MOUNTAIN THRONE, FANGTOOTH and GRIFFIN DEVICE. Coinciding with the band's appearance at the much feted Hammer of Doom festival in Germany, on October 28th 2011, "The Eternal Return" was released co-jointly by Metal On Metal and Emanes Metal on vinyl, as gatefold LP. Following the successful gigs abroad and in their own country, in the fall of 2012 NOMAD SON started recording their 3rd opus "The Darkening". During the following months the band focused on the studio work, making a break for only one show: in March they went to Switzerland to play at the 10th edition of Elements of Rock festival. The new album was completed in May 2013 and, like their two previous albums, mixed, mastered and produced by David Vella at Temple Studios. "The Darkening" sees the band upping the dose of high-octane traditional doom metal mixed with '70s hard rock, NWOBHM and '80s classic heavy metal and was released on August 30th 2013. NOMAD SON's triumphant march continues... On the same day Metal On Metal Records re-released the band's sold-out debut "First Light", however not alone, but on DVDplus format together with "Pilgrimages of Doom" DVD. • Scarlet Pimpernel

Scarlet Pimpernel < Back Scarlet Pimpernel, a band originating from the scenic town of Mellieha in Malta, was officially formed in 2019. However, the roots of the band can be traced back to 2014 when Chris and Jessica Grech, the founding members, became a couple. United by a shared love for music, their casual jamming sessions evolved into a more focused endeavor, culminating in the formation of the band. Jessica Grech serves as the vocal powerhouse of the band, contributing not only her voice but also her skills in lyrics and songwriting. Chris Grech is the versatile backbone of the band, handling multiple roles from playing guitars and bass to songwriting and production. Together, they create a unique blend of dark vintage rock, heavy rock, and blues rock, drawing inspiration from iconic bands like Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, The Rattles, The Doors, and Moody Blues. The name Scarlet Pimpernel is more than just a label; it's a symbol that encapsulates the essence of the band. Inspired by a flower known as 'harira hamra' in Maltese, which has become increasingly rare, the name reflects the band's affinity for nostalgia and vintage elements. The flower's faded orangey-red hue further complements the band's aesthetic and musical style. Musically, Scarlet Pimpernel aims to convey a range of emotions and themes. Their songs often exude a dark yet nostalgic vibe, touching upon various subjects from folk tales and historical events like the gruesome episode of 1551, to more universal life experiences that offer a message of encouragement. In terms of discography, the band has been quite active since its inception. They released singles "March of the Trolls" and "Breaking the Spell" in 2020, followed by "1551" in 2021, which also saw a music video release. Their self-titled album, released in 2021, received nominations for Top Album (Non-Maltese language) and Top Music Video (Non-Maltese language) at the Muzika Mod Iehor ma' Toni Sant (MMI 2021). While Scarlet Pimpernel has not yet ventured into collaborations as a band, both Jessica and Chris have individually contributed to other musical projects.
