The release of his original music holds a special place for him, as it provides a direct avenue to share his expressed emotions and feelings through the power of music with others. Presently, Christoffer thrives as a versatile session musician, lending his skills to around eight different bands and musicians. The diverse range of genres and styles he explores keeps his musical journey vibrant and ever-evolving. Additionally, he currently serves as the drummer for Kerjon, an original instrumental project that showcases the power of music in its purest form. < Back Joel Baldacchino Guitarist Joel Baldacchino is a Maltese guitarist, singer, and songwriter, born on the 1st of July 1995. He is best known for his work as lead vocalist and guitarist with Pyramid Suns and currently as guitarist with Manic Satin, a groovy classic rock inspired project. Over the years, he has also been involved in other bands such as Shlamizard, an ambient post-rock project, and Skorch, a proto-punk band. Deeply inspired by legendary classic rock acts including Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, and Deep Purple, Joel’s musical journey began after immersing himself in the sounds of the 70s. Alongside these influences, bands such as Red Hot Chili Peppers and HIM also played an important role in shaping his musical identity from a young age. He bought his first guitar at the age of 16 and has been dedicated to music ever since. Only a year after picking up the instrument, Joel co-founded Pyramid Suns, driven by a strong desire to create original music. Throughout the years, he experimented with different instruments including bass and piano, although guitar remained his primary focus. He also spent around four years playing bass with Skorch, an experience that, despite being stylistically different from his usual musical direction, became an important and enjoyable part of his growth as a musician. As his musical taste evolved beyond classic rock into genres and influences such as film and video game soundtracks, trip-hop, lo-fi, progressive rock, and metal, so did his songwriting and compositions. This evolution became evident throughout the progression of Pyramid Suns’ music, with the band’s early EP differing greatly from their later album while still maintaining a distinct identity. Today, Joel’s main focus is Manic Satin, a project that feels like a return to the roots that originally inspired him to pursue music. Through the band, he combines decades of influences and experiences into a sound that feels vintage yet contemporary. Currently, Manic Satin is actively writing, recording, rehearsing, and performing live while continuing to grow creatively and enjoy the journey together. Martyrium martyrium.co < Back Hailing from small Malta, an island nestled in the very heart of the Mediterranean, MartYriuM was forged in the year 1999 from the dying embers of the second wave of Black Metal – quick to grasp its own sound and ground, the band took fire and ignited a wick of relentless shows on its home turf, promptly working on and finally exploding its first album in 2002 entitled ‘Withering in Voluptuous Embrace’, a release that sent shockwaves through the at-the-time unprepared and unaccustomed local scene. ‘Withering’ in name only, the album swiftly became favorite fodder to hungry crowds during bloody shows, and remains so to this very day. Aptly named ‘The Carnage Lit By Darkness’ saw its light in 2005, a light that shone new aural darkness in the band’s sound; drawing blood from its predecessor, this second blast of symphonic black metal was laced and graced with the industrial elements for which MartYriuM would start to be know for. ‘Carnage’ was what first put the band on international ears and eyes, received and selling well, summoning metal hearts and minds to get in touch. The album is a sought-after release for both fans and those who crave such sinister and gothic orchestrations, and has been re-released on many occasions. Many gigs under their studded belts and the murderous ‘Awakening the Ancient’ followed suit in 2010, ushering the horde into a finer decade of musical endeavors and the more experimental ‘Destiny Wore A Bondage Mask’ in 2015 – by now and on the warpath, the band was spreading the word of Satan across countless European shows and building up a solid reputation as a hellish live act.Back to present day, its third decade on Earth and riding on the graciously received ‘Lamia Satanica’ as their fifth infernal vexilla regis, MartYriuM stands ready like a beast, angrily biting this pandemic leash to be unleashed from plague unto a new era of glorious shows and the ravening wings of the true Black Death! < Back Emanuel Portelli Guitar Emanuel Portelli, born in 1989, started studying guitar at the Euro Institute of Music in Malta at 17 years of age, where he studied under Marc Galea and earned RGT guitar practice certifications. Later, he continued studying music theory under the supervision of Jonathan Ellul and earned the LCM certification. Currently, Emanuel has five active bands, is a session guitarist, and teaches guitar on a part-time basis. Emanuel with his band Hemplifier started organizing an underground Stoner Festival in 2021 called Reeferfest.
