Chasing Pandora Matt Hush < Back In May of 2007, Chasing Pandora unveiled their inaugural album, “Mocking the Mocking Bird,” which garnered significant local raise. Later that year, in December, the band clinched three Malta Music Awards, further solidifying their acclaim. In April 2008, Chasing Pandora presented the EP "Two," notably featuring the popular track "Memories," which earned a nomination for "Best Song" at the Malta Music Awards. Throughout 2008, the band graced various stages in Malta and London. Come November, they introduced their second EP, “Wide Eyed Beautiful.” The launch of their second full album, “The Driver and the Dancer,” in June 2009, was followed by a series of vibrant gigs in London, with positive reviews flowing in from esteemed sources like "The Fly," "Acoustic Music Magazine," and "Rock N Reel." The end of 2009 witnessed the release of Chasing Pandora's inaugural single in the UK, "Running in Circles," subsequently featured on BBC Radio 2 and contributing to another round of gigs in London. This triumph paved the way for the UK release of "The Driver and the Dancer" in 2010, where it was met with an enthusiastic reception at the RoundHouse Music Room, playing to a packed audience. This album also earned a commendable review in The Independent newspaper and was performed live as part of the Janice Long BBC Radio show. Following the launch of their fourth EP, “People,” Chasing Pandora earned an invitation to perform at the North by North-East Festival in Toronto, an honor bestowed upon them from a pool of 600,000 applicants, making them one of 6,000 bands to grace the event. < Back Giuseppe Labruzzo Bass Giuseppe Labruzzo, originally from Sicily and currently residing in Lombardy, has embraced various musical shades throughout his career, ranging from Rockabilly to Metal. At the age 15, inspired by Nirvana, he started playing the bass, becoming a self-taught musician with the valuable support of his cousin. Together with another Giuseppe and Lorenzo, he joined a band called MD and contributed to the recording of the album "Endless Rain," characterized by the post-punk genre. They took their music around Sicily, performing in various venues. For a brief period, he experimented with the double bass to explore the world of country music. Despite his passion for music, Giuseppe pursued studies in Biotechnology and currently teaches chemistry and biology in the province of Monza. Giuseppe Labruzzo has recently joined Rock Band Monkey Riot. The encounter with Monkey Riot through an advertisement was crucial, as he found in them the desire, camaraderie, seriousness, and availability he has always looked for in a band. Giuseppe is eager to share his passion with them, hoping to play anywhere and live significant musical experiences in the near future. < Back Enzo Guzman Singer Enzo Gusman, born Laurence Gusman on August 9, 1947, in Sliema, Malta, was a beloved Maltese singer, broadcaster, and entertainer who left an indelible mark on the island's music scene. Discovered by the late comic actor Johnnie Navarro at a young age, Gusman's journey into the world of entertainment began early. He showcased his vocal talent as the vocalist of the Maltese pop group "The Boys" in 1964 before embarking on a career in banking. However, his passion for music persisted, leading him to participate in numerous international song festivals where he garnered acclaim and recognition. Throughout his career, Gusman's versatility as a singer was evident as he effortlessly transitioned between romantic ballads, catchy pop tunes, and even opera. He captivated audiences with his performances, winning prestigious awards such as the 'First Prize' at the Golden Orpheus Festival in Bulgaria and being declared the Best Interpreter at the Istanbul International Song Festival. Additionally, Gusman's own compositions became cherished classics in Malta and beyond, ensuring his enduring legacy in the Maltese diaspora. Beyond his musical accomplishments, Gusman was a prominent figure in Maltese radio and television, hosting popular shows like "Bejn il-Ħbieb" on Calypso Radio, where he endeared himself to listeners by affectionately referring to them as friends. He used his platform to advocate for causes close to his heart, notably championing blood donation and promoting the Maltese language and heritage. Gusman's dedication to his craft and his contributions to Maltese culture were recognized with awards such as the Midalja għall-Qadi tar-Repubblika in 2008, honoring his decades-long commitment to entertainment and broadcasting. On December 18, 2021, Enzo Gusman passed away peacefully at his home in Canada, surrounded by his loved ones, bringing an end to a remarkable journey that spanned decades. As tributes poured in from friends, colleagues, and fans, it became clear that while Gusman may have left this world, his music and memory would endure, ensuring that his spirit lives on eternally in the hearts of all who were touched by his artistry. Void of Chaos < Back Void of Chaos is a death metal project conceived in 2020. Founder member and bass player/guitarist Karl Friggieri has been active in the Maltese underground heavy metal scene since 1995 and is currently active in a number of other bands; Angelcrypt (melodic death metal), Blind Saviour (power metal) and Sonic Storm (thrash metal). For this project, Karl Friggieri recruited UK-based vocalist Chris Bone and guitarist Jorge Medina from Venezuela. A second guitarist, Artem Efimov from Ukraine recorded guitars on the first released single, Feel the Rot. The band released its first 2 singles - Feel the Rot and Void of Chaos in February and April 2021. The 10-track self-released debut album debuted in November 2021 and is available on all major digital streaming platforms. < Back Demis Fenech Singer / Songwriter Demis is a Maltese artist, guitarist, and producer with three albums, several singles, and production credits for other artists. He has performed in multiple bands and is known for melodic lines punctuated by tasteful technical flourishes that enhance each song. Early in his career he focused on virtuosity, then shifted toward a more song-centred approach, aiming to connect emotionally with listeners. Open-minded about influences—rock, classical, blues, metal, jazz, electronic beats, and atmospheric textures— Demis freely explores diverse musical directions. Captivated by the sound of the electric guitar, Demis first picked up the instrument in June 1995 at the age of 15. From that moment, he committed to intensive practice and has been playing ever since. Two years later, he founded his first band, ‘Myst,’ a Maltese Power Metal band that remained active for about five years. During this period, he also formed the band ‘Sidereal’ with keyboardist David Grech German, blending metal with gothic, classical, and atmospheric elements. Subsequent projects included Six Point Circle and FuseBox, where Demis expanded his musical style to encompass a broader range of genres. In 2007, Demis released his debut solo album, ‘Ethereal Travel,’ followed by his second album, Senspiration,’ in 2009, and his latest release, ‘Post Consolidation,’ in 2026. In addition to his band work, Demis has contributed to local theatre productions by producing and recording music. Driven by the increasing demands and expectations of artists, he ventured into mixing, mastering, and video production. This diversification created new opportunities, including collaboration with guitar soloist ‘Stefanos’, for whom Demis has produced, mixed, and mastered seven albums. < Back Karl Friggieri Guitar, Bass Karl Friggieri has been active in the Maltese metal underground scene since 1995. Phantom Lord: (1999 – 2004) Phantom Lord, a thrash/speed metal quintet which had some early power metal melodic influences. Playing bass guitar alongside his brother Robert on drums, Aldo Chircop and Mario Cassar on guitars and Andre’ Spiteri on vocals, Karl contributed to writing the lyrics on a number of the band’s tracks as well as lending a hand in the composition of various tracks. Unfortunately, the band’s original material from this period was only played live on a few occasions with the 7-minute track Faded Spirit being the only track which was ever released through the band’s MySpace page . Blind Saviour: (2005 - ) A fully-fledged Power Metal band fronted by Rachel Grech on vox, Robert Friggieri on drums, Aldo Chircop and Campos Gellel on guitars. The band played quite a few gigs including a number of major Metal festivals in Malta. In 2016 the band released its debut album The Master Plan, which was soon followed by a mini-tour in the UK and Italy to promote the album. In 2018 the single Father of the Wolf, a power metal interpretation of the Amon Amarth track was recorded as a limited release on all major digital platforms. The band is currently on an indefinite hiatus. There are plans to release a more material in the near future. Kill ’em All: (2016 – 2017) It all started off as a one-gig project with Karl being invited to join guitarist Campos Gellel and vocalist Francesco Degabriele to play hits from the first Metallica album. Soon after Aldo Chircop on guitars and Edward Tagliaferro on drums completed the line-up. The band played a few gigs and festivals and proved to have a very decent following. Sonic Storm: (2017 - ) The band came into being soon after Kill ‘em All called it a day. Karl recruited Frans Degabriele on guitars and vocals and Edward Tagliaferro on drums. The trio played a number of live gigs and festivals in Malta. In 2021 Paul Formosa replaced Edward on drums while a year later Sean Attard was recruited on 2 nd guitar to complete the line- up. The band’s first single Bullet Train was released in 2020, followed by a second single, Web of Corruption. If all goes to plan, the band’s debut album should be released by the end of 2023. Void of Chaos: (2020 - ) For this death metal project Karl Friggieri recruited UK-based vocalist Chris Bone and guitarist Jorge Medina from Venezuela. A second guitarist - Artem Efimov from Ukraine recorded guitars on the first single, Feel the Rot. A second single Void of Chaos was released in April 2021, followed by the debut album, Plagues of Annihilation in November 2021.
